Speaking from my personal experience only.......

The Caravan Club sites are a little more expensive but most are for members only and tend to be quieter and have fewer issues like rowdy teens roaming around at night. The standards and cleanliness of the facilities seem to be higher too.

The Caravan and Camping Club seems to be more relaxed with more basic shower blocks etc but the site fees are lower and they have fewer rules about things like arriving late, which bit of your pitch you park on etc. I have never had a problem booking one of their sites as a non-member so I guess they have fewer or no members only sites.

We are members of the Caravan club because we have two girls with ASD so knowing that the facilities will always be clean, comfortable and similar in design is important to us.

Caravan club for me Grin

MrsShrek3 · 28/07/2012 16:15

We're in both. Caravan club doesnt charge to reserve pitches so book up quickly, can b frustrating as you know perfectly well people book in advance then cancel last minute.
C&CC have more likelihood that you will get the sites you want as they do charge a percentage reservation fee when you book, to a max £25 approx. However facilities vary a lot, which caravan club don't.

Agree with MrsShrek3 Smile

The other difference we find is that caravan club you turn up and can pick between whichever pitches are available, whereas C&CC allocate your pitch for you. I thought I would hate that, but have always been given really nice pitches, so its not been an issue at all. But it is a difference.

caravan club seems to be winning :)

as long as you're under starters orders in December for the annual book up fest Wink

hairyqueenofscots · 31/07/2012 20:39

mrs shrek do people book sites for the whole year at this point??

OP posts:
MrsShrek3 · 31/07/2012 21:27

ohhh yes.
particularly areas like York, Chester, all the Cornwall and Devon sites, most of Norfolk anywhere you'd want to go on holiday really Weekends, bank holidays and August go verrrry quickly [cynic], Honestly. We wanted to go to York (Rowntree park club site) for Whit one year and we couldn't get in, in December Confused It's ridiculous. If you want the Highlands, you can get in there any time you want Grin
which is really the point I was sort of making without spelling it out, wrt advance booking systems. Great that you can book without paying, but some folk don't take it seriously and just book a bunch of sites that they have no real intention of going to, ime. When you get on these sites at bank hols, they're never actually full. annoying, tbh.

We are members of the C&CC and use their Certificated Sites. These are basic and usually quite good value. We are going away next week and are paying £11 for EHU and toilet/shower facilities. In my opinion it is worth the yearly fee for the use of these sites. We have stayed in 4 so far and they have all been good.

We have a tent so don't know much about the CC.
