What do I cook?

Hi. We are novice campers. I think we have most of the bits we need, including a camping stove thing that we have borrowed (it is a fancy one where you can grill, barbecue etc as well), but can only do one thing at a time. Can anyone give me quick and easy meal suggestions?

Hi.
Cook anything easy that you would at home. Spaghetti bolognaise, omelette, breakfast, risotto, sausages, burgers, served with salad, baked beans and/or bread etc.
If needing two pans, ie Bolognaise, I would cook sauce first then spaghetti, as sauce won't cool too quick.
Hope that helps

One pot - chicken biryani. Fry onions, then chuck in your cubes of chicken, then chuck in your rice and some stock and finally, the chicken buryani packet mix you can buy from the supermarket. LUSH and v filling.

Tinned beans and sausages.

Instant mash

Savoury rice

Scrambled eggs, french toast, omelette

Pasta with a jar of sauce.

Not exactly haute cuisine but it is quick and easy!

Eat out or get takeaways Wink

I take pre-made chilli that I reheat, with uncle bens microwave rice cos it turns out you can also reheat it in 2mins in a pan on a cooker. I also do pasta and sauce - get fresh pasta which only takes about 5 mins, leave it in the boiling water and do the sauce in another pan. Drain the pasta once the sauce is done. I also take a chuck away BBQ and do sausages n burgers for one night.

I saw a tip tip on the guardian website about cooking pasta / rice and sauce with one burner.

Basically bring the rice / pasta to a good vigorous boil, then take pan off the heat. Place a towel / fleece on top of a sleeping bag, put pan on top of this, and wrap pan up in towel / sleeping bag combo.

Pasta / rice will be cooked by the time you've made the Bolognese / chilli / whatever.

Never tried it but sounds clever a or just use cous cous which is much quicker.

New potatoes- no peeling or faffing about. Great with butter or wrapped in foil and roasted on the BBQ
Jars of sauce- easy to fry up your gubbins then chuck the sauce on top
Homemeade- we normally manage 2 nights. Take first nights defrosted and second nights frozen. The usual suspects, chilli, bolgnaise etc. but homemade fishcakes are a big hit here too.
BBQ- whenever the weather will allow Hmm
Soup- tins or packets are always useful, we normally keep a couple in case of emergencies
Cheese- with baguette and salad, on toast, on pasta, in sandwiches, the list goes on!
