It was cold, it rained a lot and the last night I actually thought we were going to blow away.

But, we loved it! We are planning a return trip in August if there is a good weather forcast and I think we are hooked :o

yay Grin

ValiumQueen · 14/07/2012 12:47

That is what you call proper camping! Very pleased for you.

MrsNouveauRichards · 14/07/2012 18:30

The campsite owners were sheep farmers and they said they were impressed that we stuck it out in the atrocious weather :o

I feel like a 'real' camper (ignores the fact it was the only time we have been) :o

Oh, but one thing I need to ask you experienced campers.......

How the effing Jeff do you fit everything in the car? I have a Land Rover Discovery and we were packed to the gills!

I'm all bell tent these days - bought one last spring and have been away in it a good few times now.
Just got home after a eight night stretch in Wales. It rained and rained and fucking rained. Not that we cared - we were warm cosy and dry and well entertained. Excellent holiday...thoroughly enjoyed it.
There was only one other tent there - a trailer tent thingy. They were having a ball as well...and were really nice.

I am an enthusiastic camper.

Migsy1 · 14/07/2012 22:41

I've got a roofbox. I could do with a trailer as well :)

ValiumQueen · 15/07/2012 10:05

I have a roof box. Think a trailer is better. Need a bell tent. Have not gone camping yet as pg and not been well. Took DD2 when she was 6 weeks, and the polyester tent was a bit hot for naps. Will wait until kids are bigger as I want one with a separate groundsheet and fear the weans would escape.

Migsy1 · 15/07/2012 10:27

I went camping when one of the kids was 2. It was a bit of a nightmare as he kept unzipping the tent and running off.

Camping is the best!! We're all kitted out with a little VW camper van and an old style canvas frame tent! There's five of us now including the DCs and we can't all fit on a 3/4 bed in the van so DH and I take it in turns one night in the tent with dd1 then one night in the van. Tis great!! We did a 21 night stretch across Europe last year with 2dds aged 6 and 2, ds was our holiday souvenir Blush really need to get a tv in the camper for entertainment Grin

ValiumQueen · 15/07/2012 10:55

How lovely! I love the old frame tents! And campers. I am carrying a valentines day DS and also have two DDs age 6 and 2. I think having a 2yo has also put me off this year. They are hard work!

MrsNouveauRichards · 15/07/2012 11:21

It was hard work with DS (nearly 2) actually, but I think a holiday anywhere with him would have been just as difficult!

True. Every day with a 2yo is a challenge. Mine has chickenpox at the moment.

Babylon1 · 15/07/2012 14:58

Our 2yo is also hard work! Think it just goes with the territory!!

2 out of 3 of our DCs were "made" in the camper!! We have a New Year conception and a summer birthday being inventive with my gift as space was tight conception Blush

DH currently outside measuring up where tv/DVD could go!!! Grin. He is certain there will not be a 3rd campervan conception!!! GrinSad

ValiumQueen · 15/07/2012 15:02

I think a bit more than a TV is required, although I guess that would depend on where you locate it!
