hello
im taking my children camping in august this year to cornwall. although ive done this many times with my eldest, its the first time my 7 month old will be going. what i want to know is, what do i really need to take for her? we dont have a trailer or roof rack, and dont want to fill the tent with bits we wont really use, yet i dont want to leave anything behind. What have you found usefull or compleatly useless? And do i need to invest in a propper baby sleeping bag? i would really like to know what you all found. thankyou.

A DUMMY!
If you have any nighttime screeching, you will have to lock yourself in the car for the sake of the other campers! .

We took DD when she was 10 months - used 2.5 tog grobag, fleecy babygro, long-sleeved vest & blankets in travel cot (off the ground anyway, so helps with warmth & doubles as playpen). Main thing was dealing with it being 35 degrees in the tent in the daytime & 12 in the middle of the night! We've got an ikea plastic highchair with the detachable legs so took that too, plastic box with lid that was a toybox/bath/table to stand at/paddling pool, and an all in one waterproof if they're crawling. And one of those blankets thats' waterproof on one side for a clean play space inside & outside. Enjoy!

Does someone you know have a Phil and Teds? Cos their footmuff doubles as a sleeping bag- perhaps you could ask to borrow it. Our baby just ended up in with me under a duvet the first time. Second the all in one waterproof- ESSENTIAL!! Buggy. Preferably all terrain- can feed them their food in it, they can sleep in it if necessary. Disposable nappies and nappy sacks- last time I went camping someone was washing their reusables - hardcore or what! Think of how many socks/babygros you need then double it if they can move. And that's about it really apart from cartons of milk if using formula, and food. Oh and sun hats, woolly hats and sunscreen. Also, I found with my baby to avoid total meltdown make sure they are ready for bed before the sun goes down. Maybe it's just mine but I think she couldn't cope with getting ready for bed once it was already dark! Have fun and don't be scared. Take some beer/wine for you.

Ours was in the moses basket, which doubled up as luggage for the journey.

DD slept in-
L/sleeve vest
babygrow
fleecy over baby grow thing
blankets

We also put baby in the pushchair to get to sleep and then transferred her when we went to bed.

If baby wakes early (before 6.30am), please go offsite and get the papers or something....

Take the usual baby stuff.
