...I am a first timer taking two younger children without DW. I am looking at tents....can anyone beat this one for ease of construction, space and cost?

Here are the the reviews

I have the Outwell fusion 400 pop up to go away on my own with the boys aged 4 and 6. We were away last weekend and it literally took30 seconds to put up plus about 5 mins pegging out with boys 'help'

I am a pop up fan i have this one www.decathlon.co.uk/base-seconds-42-tent-id_8091844.html which is amazing with 2bedrooms with built in ground sheets plus a central area high enough to stand up in.
I started with this quencha one www.decathlon.co.uk/base-seconds-living-area-id_8208602.html which i now link to the bigger one,

as regards food, (you have my sympathy, my dc also have food allergies, hence why we camp!!) we often do a stew/casserole/curry and take it in a tupperware box so when we get there and have pitched up etc the food just needs to go in a pan and heat up. Likewise spuds, or quick-cook rice Wink

Yellow- Fusion 400 Sage Green is a reasonable price

MrsS3- good ideas thanks. Kids are looking forward to BBQ sausages so got myself a little portable BBQ as well. What cooker do you use? Planning to "chop and ziplock" all ingredients

For cooking, we're still using two of these - have looked at the "cookers" but they're basically the same two burners and sometimes a grill. Don't see the point of spending more money tbh cos I'm mean like that. We do, however have a kitchen thing like this one which is superb. Burners on top, cups and plates and stuff in the 'cupboard', food in coolbox on the bottom shelf, sorted!!

Thank you MrsS. I was wondering what to do bat stoves. Only two weeks to go

Do you use airbed and sleeping bag. I have air beds already

we all have mummy-style three season bags. We only camp a few times each season so we use the self-inflating mats, they're not very thick but comfortable enough. cba with airbed blowing up, but I'm sure it would make for a more "luxurious" camping experience Grin
Would really love to know what everyone else does, esp wrt airbeds!

TDada · 15/07/2012 15:36

I have foot pump for airbed inflation which is really quick so I may do these for the two children.

Cos I am still undecided about camping long term etc. I may revert to the 6 person Coleman for GBP 65 in the OP link. So that if we decide not to camp ever again, then I have only spent a small amount. Also at this stage don't need separate bedroom(s).

MrsShrek3 · 23/07/2012 00:33

just nosey interested ...did you decide? I completely agree with your idea of spending minimal ££ - hence why we started with a minute fairly bijou three-man thing with a porch Grin but really, you won';t hate it!! You'll forget in between trips how cold it is at night enjoy it Wink

Thx for all the tips. Went well
