Double sleeping bag

I know that a double bag is not as warm as a single but I like to snuggle up to dh!

We have taken a duvet in the past and although it's lovely and snugly warm it takes up too much room in the car and also an feel a bit damp iykwim - it's not really made for camping!

However I really need a warm double sleeping bag, I'm a total freeze arse! Any recommendations please.

A lot of single sleeping bags will zip together with one of the same.

We currently have 2 singles that zip together but they are so big and a gaff to put away but if someone can recommend me to good warm singles that can be zipped together (that aren't huge) I'm happy to listen!

We have the coleman hampton double and it has been a great purchase. Feels more 'dovet' like than sleeping bag, super warm and very comfy. The downside is that it does take up quite a bit of room and is a slightly awkward cube shape for packing (for us- we do sausage shapes mainly!).

We had a vango one I think, but it seems to have got less warm over the last couple of years and I've been perishingly cold for the last 2 summers. I've just bought a new one (also vango) which feels much thicker, but I'm planning on using it solo! Single bags feel horribly constricted to me.
DP has a glorious lightweight Rab down one he can use - although he thinks it will be too warm for summer use.
We have ridiculous amounts of gear we take - we bought a trailer (large one) and fill it.

GobblersKnob · 25/06/2012 22:08

dp has this and I have this (slightly smaller).

We either use them as singles, zip them together to make a double, or sleep on mine and use his as a duvet, even as singles they are not restricive as they are massive.

Beamur, I'm sure you already know, but you're not storing your bag stuffed are you? Just the thing with it getting less effective, if you don't store them open and flat they get knackered really quickly.

Coleman Hudson double is fabulous. Super cosy and duvet-like...

We've just got a double vango one and were lovely and warm on a chilly night a few weeks ago. We bought it having got cold with a duvet the week before.

We take a king size duvet as I thrash about like an eel in a sleeping bag and could end up hurling DH off the bed if we were to sleep in a sleeping bag. We have a mahoosive vacuum bag and we suck the air out with the hoover beforehand, and then with the sucky end of the bed blower upper when we come home (we have a small piece of waste pipe attached so that it fits the bag valve) This could solve your space problem though I do know what you mean about the duvet seeming damp (though everytime we camp everything is damp anyway Hmm)

Arggghh just lost a long reply!

Oh well in short, thats what we do at the moment topbanana, with 2 single sleeping bags and a duvet, takes up too much space. At this rate we're gonna have to leave one child behind, I'm sure there's laws against that!!

What's the vango bag karenjm?

Alloverit, I've looked at the Coleman but am concerned by the handful of reviews that say its not warm (I really am a freeze arse!). I know most of the reviews are good but I also don't like the lok of it!! Ridiculous I know!
