EHU in France - worth the bother?

The pitches we've booked in France this year come with EHU as standard. As the only electric thing we'd want to use (apart from charging phones/dvd player, both of which can be done in the car) would be a mosquito zapper (DD suffers horribly from bites), a) is it worth lugging our EHU along and b) is there any point, is French electricity on a different voltage/amperage and would it work?

Ours is the standard 240v blue 3 pin connector that apparently has 10 amp MCD and 25 amp RCD protection - can we actually use this in France or would we need a converter?

Most campsites lend you a converter for free, they also sell them in French supermarkets. Amazon have them too.

Out of curiosity, how are you keeping food cool?

What about a light? Not having to charge DVD player etc would be a bonus. A heater for cool nights? Pump for airbeds? Oh, what a host of possibilities with EHU Grin

Phone charger...

Are you going to be out in the car everyday? If not, using your car as a power source when not running could drain your battery. EHU is worth it for us for stays of more than 1 or 2 nights for: kettle (saves gas), charging dvd player and mobiles, electric light.

Thanks AlloverIt re. the converter info - that's really useful to know. I'll contact the campsite and see what they provide/recommend.

Cheerup, we're staying outside Paris the first week so probably would be out and about most days, but I agree it's nice to be able to plug things in and not worry about the car battery!

Re. cold food, we have an Iceytek.

Thanks very much :)
