These "pods" they seem to have in a few of the Lake District campsites (and others no doubt)

Have you ever stayed in one?

I imagine them being very dark and a bit poky. I know they'll be bigger than a tent, but surely it's not the same with electric lighting on during the day. Daylight does come through tent canvas, whereas with one of those, you're relying on the porch doors at the end. Is that enough?

And do you all have to sleep in one space or are there separate sleeping areas?

www.atlanticsurfpods.co.uk/

I was just looking at these actually. Has some pics of the inside and look pretty light :)

But where do the children sleep????

Do you have to set up campbeds around the end of the king sized bed with memory foam? Sort of takes the comfort out of it.

There are two massive bean bags for the kids. Very odd.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 22/06/2012 23:32

Really? That is very curious.

I'm still convinced they must be quite dark.

And my tent has separate rooms

I looked at them a few weeks ago as they are not too expensive, but i too thought cold and dark, at leats canvas lets in light and stores heat.

I also think thjey are pretty small in terms of storage and space between children and adults.

dangerousliaison · 22/06/2012 23:39

oh just opened link they are far posher and far more expensive than i was looking at previously.

I quite like them but also like tent more I think.

We stayed in one in the Highlands last year, it was to break the journey, but I wouldn't want to stay in one more than a couple of nights. It was fairly comfy, warm and dry and had electricity and a fridge which was handy, plus outdoor seating and a fire pit. But we were all in together and it wouldn't have been ideal for a longer stay. My DP hated it.

I've stayed in one but there was no electric. It was freezing although it was February. It was OK to be honest. It wasn't particularly dark.
