Hypothetically.. which size Icey Tek would you buy?

There are 3 of us - me and two children, aged 5 and 7. We tend to go on around 2 camping trips per year, ranging from 2-6 nights. I suspect we'll settle in to a bit of a 'two Sun-Sat trips per year' pattern. I don't drive so, once we've been kindly deposited at the campsite, we rely on public transport, so ideally like to take as much food as we can with us. I love camping cooking so we do this much more often than we eat out.
So.. hypothetically speaking, if I were to accidentally slip and land on my credit card, would you hope to have accidentally ordered a 25L or a 40L if you were me?
Also, where is the best (cheapest!) place to accidentally order from?

25l :D

It would depend how much space you have in your car for one thing. I've got the 25ltr one and it's big, bigger than I expected. So takes up a lot of space.

I assume you've seen the photos on the website to demonstrate how much you can get in to them?

Plus I don't think that really they would keep food cold for an entire week Unless you could refreeze ice blocks or buy bags of ice cubes in that time. I found last week that stuff stayed cold for 48hrs. I couldn't refreeze the ice blocks so then wouldn't use it for meat. The cheese and milk were warmer than ideal and this was when the weather was freezing. Saying that I had forgot to put the little drain plug thing in it so maybe using that would have helped keep things colder???

I got loads in my 25ltr one, sausages, a frozen chilli, a bag of muffins, milk, butter, bacon, cheese, ketchup, half a loaf of bread, three ice blocks, and it wasn't full.

Yes, I've seen the photos but thought it'd be useful to get opinions from some people that use them to add to the mix. Re freezing ice blocks shouldn't be a problem :) It sounds like 25L would probably do us to be honest from what you've said!

I have hypothetically just ordered the 40l one :o

Having seen both the 25l and 40l I don't reckon there I'd as much difference between then in size as you would expect. Having said that though I am sure the 25l one would be fine for a couple of days.

Viva you need to chat to slubber about how to keep things cold in your tek - she went to Germany with her Iceytek last summer and still had English ice in it 10 days in!

Is it hypothetically there yet yellow?

I need warm weather so that I can go camping test out my tekster

YellowDinosaur · 14/06/2012 15:03

Hypothetically it has paid a visit and been taken back to the depot Tom... Collecting it later!

phoebechicken · 14/06/2012 20:46

Where did you get it from Yellow?

Here phoebechicken. There was a mumsnet code for free delivery - don't know if it's still valid - I was able to use it as I was awaiting mine for a couple of months from a recent delivery they got of new colours.

Hypothetically I might be sitting on the sofa with my feet on a rather lovely 40l pink Iceytek :o
