Hi, can anyone recommend a music festival suitable for dc's (7&3)? Is there such a thing?!

Kendal Calling is a great festival.

I went when 8 months pregnant, saw lots or families with children from newborn to teenagers.

BellaOfTheBalls · 13/06/2012 15:12

Do they still do WOMAD nr Reading?

weblette · 13/06/2012 15:13

We do Cornbury every year, v safe and vvv friendly - it's in Oxfordshire if that's any nearer!

clippityclop · 13/06/2012 15:14

Bristol balloon festival was fab - went when our girls were about 5 & 3. Loads to do, live music etc.

defineme · 13/06/2012 15:15

There's one that's not just music called something like 'just so' that's specifically for kids/families.Think it's in derbyshire.
My neighbours go to beautiful days every year with small kids-I just hated the levellers/not into a hippy vibe so it wouldn't be my scene.
There are day festivals- you could camp nearby- splendour in Nottingham is overrun by families.

I think you're right to pick carefully. There's nothing sadder than seeing a crying kid ,trying to play with empty beer cups ,in the middle of a seething drunk crowd-I've seen it at Leeds and Reading and don't know what the parents were thinking!

BellaOfTheBalls · 13/06/2012 15:16

Ah they've moved it to Wiltshire. Sorry about link; on iPad.

Oh and there's Summer Sundae in Leicester. It even has a crèche.

VivaLeBeaver · 13/06/2012 17:49

Wychwood - loads of kids activities - mosaics, crafty stuff, library tent, story telling, cookery classes. Mr Tumble the year I went.

Allegrogirl · 13/06/2012 21:47

We're off to Beautiful Days again this year. Won best family festival festival at UK festival awards 2011. DH hates the Levellers but he enjoys the festival year after year. There's circus stuff for kids to try with helpers to get them started, crafts, kids cabaret, trampolines and bouncy castles. Several generations of the same families all enjoying the relaxed atmosphere.

We haven't tried any other festivals with kids but hope to when DDs are a little older. We're only an hour away from Beautiful Days to easy to escape if it all goes wrong.

Flojo1979 · 13/06/2012 22:35

Would love to have gone to beautiful days but its sold out :(
