South Penquite Farm

Just back from 3 nights at South Penquite Farm, our second visit already this year.

It's a lovely peaceful site on an organic sheep farm.Just three camping meadows and a field with some Yurts in. No marked pitches and a policy of no overcrowding although both times we have stayed here the site has been practically empty (suits us)

Fires are allowed and logs and kindling as well as organic lamb burgers and sausages are available from the farmer.Remember to take a grill if you want to cook over your fire.

We camped as usual and my parents stayed in a Yurt.Although not luxurious the Yurt was perfectly comfortable and good value for money.

The facilities are fairly basic,no ehu but they do have a small fridge that you can use and a freezer for ice blocks ect.Solar showers are hot and spotless (as are toilets)

You can also use the washing machine/tumble dryer and charge phone ect for a small charge.

There are loads of chickens and ducks (all with babies this time) wandering around the site as well as friendly farm cats and sheep dogs.

The farm walk is lovely (there are kid friendly geocaches) and you have to be very unlucky not to spot wild pony's and rabbits during your stay.

Our kids absolutely adore this place and we have to drag them off site to go to the beach ect.I think this is the best endorsement Grin

Great tip, thanks very much. Always good to hear of great campsites that allow campfires! Thinking of a little tour of Cornwall this year, have you got any other good tips?

We want to try [[https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150340039362254.392866.136881152253 Buzzards Bridge

this looks good too Grin

We are definitely on a mission this year to stay away from more commercial sites.

thanks for posting about it, i really want to go. one of my mates lives nearby and i'm hoping to combine visiting her and getting to this site.

did they have any of the craft workshops when you were they? they look ace, but my kids, 4 and 3, might be a bit too young. know they run them every thursday in summer holidays.

going to check out the other site you mention, does it also allow campfires?

Yep both the other sites allow campfires,no workshops happening while we were staying but kids were happy exploring farm and annoying meting the animals.
