Am I pitching my Soulpad correctly?

I've watched the video on YouTube but thats for a tent with a loose ground sheet. I've got the zipped in groundsheet.

When I peg out the groundsheet I put pegs through the little eyelet type holes round the edge of the groundsheet. I then do the central pole and the a-frame, shut the door and do the guy ropes.

Now there are little fabric loops at the bottom of the walls on the outside which line up with the eyelets. I wasn't sure if these were only for when/if the walls are rolled up???? I did hook the loops under the pegs that had gone into the eyelets - was that wrong?

No - you need to peg the fabric loops out.

VivaLeBeaver · 10/06/2012 18:01

Instead of the eyelets?

Or after the eyelets but with different pegs?

Mine is a loose groundsheet so I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

The thick canvas loops on the outside of the tent should be pegged out about 4cm.

Inches. Sorry - 4 inches.
Start with the two at either side of the door, then the three at the back, then alternate round the sides.

VivaLeBeaver · 10/06/2012 18:08

Ah. Might try that next time and see if the tent leaks less. Grin

Thanks.

Ahhh were you the one who had little pools of water round the circumference of the inner?
Right - well I think if you peg out 4 inches using the loops round the outside, this will not happen again. Hooray!! Grin

Hang on... I don't peg out the fabric loops. As you suggest, they're for rolling up the sides. I peg out the eyelets around the base, then go around pegging out the guy ropes.

I may have been doing it wrong for the last 3 years though?

pictish · 10/06/2012 18:26

Here is the how to

As you will see, you peg the canvas loops out.

pictish · 10/06/2012 18:27

You use the loops to roll up the side, yes. Once everything is pegged out and the guys are tensioned correctly.

VivaLeBeaver · 10/06/2012 19:54

Yes, I was the one with the puddles!

Aw my wee heart fair sank for you - and I really hoped it just needed a thorough soaking to tighten up the canvas.
Think you'll find you're dry and snug if you peg out the canvas loops. Grin

Migsy1 · 10/06/2012 20:14

You peg the loops out after you have pegged out the ground sheet. Then you go in with the pole. The loops are pegged close to the eyelet pegs.

pictish · 10/06/2012 20:23

OP has got a ZIG, so it's a case of pegging out straight off.

Righteousdude · 12/06/2012 21:28

Christ I'm confused but would also like to know. But my fabric loops aren't fabric, they're kind of elastic Confused

SeaShellsUnderCanvas · 15/06/2012 18:51

We have a zig too - we peg out the eyelet loops v close to the groundsheet with the fat pegs, put up the pole, then peg the canvas loops with the skinny pegs, then peg out the guys. So you have 3 concentric circles of pegs iyswim? :( you had leaks. Have you spoken to them?
