gas, propane, butane, regulators, hoses, gels, trangias, canisters....
i'm a bit confused now. I need an idiots guide.
What cooker do you have, what's good, what's rubbish?
Go outdoors have one for about £25 with double burner and grill - would that be a good buy? Do I need to add price of regulator / hose onto all the ones i see for sale?

I really want to avoid having to drive with one of those huge looking gas canisters - especially if we're only going for 3 - 5 days at a time.
Family of 5 though.

What would you recommend? Really want cheap, but not rubbish.
They even seem quite dear to me on ebay!

The little canister stoves are good, but for car camping (where you don't have to carry anything) the propane range is a realy good choice. the canisters are big, but not humungous. It will also have plenty of cooking time for you. And with two burners you can cook more.

I have one similar to this, different colour though and I got it in a sale for £30. You don't need to use the larder/stand thing but if you're going for a week it can be handy.

I had to buy a regulator, hose and gas to go with it. Regulator was about £8, hose a couple of quid, but the man saw me coming and sold me a big bottle of gas for £40. It's enough to cook for a family of 5 for a week, he said. I could probably have got away with just 2-3 smaller cannisters.
