Blackberry Woods or Nethergong Nurseries?

For a child-free camping weekend. I like fires, woods, (but some possibility to sit in the sun), a nice relaxed vibe, some facilities but basic is fine, good places nearby, nice views and walks.

Actually I mean Blackberry Fields.

Ah I looked at Nethergong but haven't been there yet. Looked nice though.

Sorry can't help more than that! :-)

Isn't Blackberry Fields child free Blu my darling?

janinlondon · 01/06/2012 11:19

Sorry - that was IS - not isn't. !

janinlondon · 01/06/2012 11:20

Oooh I looked it up - you are right, it is! Grin

Blu · 01/06/2012 13:12

No pesky kids waking you up with their screeching at 6am Grin Sounds great!

Alas my own camping weekend won't be quite so tranquil.

Blu · 10/06/2012 13:51

So, campers who know these sites - which shall I choose?

I am tempted by the potential for walking on the Downs at Blackberry Fields, but deterred a little by reports that say all the pitches are in shade so no chance of any sun, should we be lucky enough to get any. Also that the pitches are very close together, albeit separated by bushes.

Nethergong sounds nice....but I could have the option of going there en famille.

You're all hopeless!

Calm again.

Tyaca - have you been to Nethergong Nurseries yet?
Has anyone been to the add-on Blackberry Fields at Blackberry Wood?

We're going to nethergong for a second time this year, it is lovely, but it's very family orientated. But it's very small, and if you went mid week term time you'd probably be fine :D.

tyaca · 19/06/2012 21:53

nethergong is just lovely, blu. i think it's my favourite campsite, though i have only been to about five. would i recommend it for a child free experience? um, maybe. you'd have to avoid the main field. the woodland bit is a bit young and green so maybe not there either BUT there is a thing called the avenue, which is a trail of, maybe five pitches, each on their ownsome that would prob be child free, and furthest from facilities.

you want a bit of solitude and wilderness, don't you? i take it pembrokeshire is a bit far to travel?

so, erm, nethergong, def a family option first and foremost, but not a bad compromise from your POV i would guess

tyaca · 19/06/2012 21:54

that was really unhelpful wasn't it?? Grin

Blu · 20/06/2012 12:33

No, that was really helpful! And I'm glad to hear Nethergong is good.

I can't go term time weekdays as I am taking advantage of a specific opportunity when DP will be away with DS. I don't want to avoid children and families specifically, but it is a chance to take adavantage of child free sites such as Blackberry Fields.

I am veering towards Blackberry Fields for this trip and then Nethergong at the first next chance I get to take DS or go with other families. I fancy good walks on the Downs, possible from Blackberry Fields.

Thank you! (have paid deposit at BF, anyway!)

And I would love to go to Pembrokeshire - but this is a weekend quick there-and-back! Maybe I will must disappear to Pembrokeshire!
