Want to do camping "lite". Is a Trangia worth the investment?

Got a full on kitchen thingy but can't be bothered carrying the thing from the car in a festival scenario.

How do we rate the Trangia?

Stupid time to ask I suppose, as all the hardcore campers will be at it right now!

We have a trangia (non-stick version - not that hardcore). We've only been camping twice, and used it as the main cooker, with a disposable barbecue as an add-on. This time we've got a tiny portable bbq, but I still intend to use the trangia as the main cooker. It's so minimalist. I love it. It takes a while to boil the kettle, but we are not in a hurry, are we? And it cooks rice to perfection. What more do you want? (Apart from toast. But that cannot be helped, I think.)

We use two, not the non-stick ones, + a dinky BBQ some nights on longer trips.
There are 5 of us and we cook every night. We went for trangias due to lack of boot space.
It is fine but I feel deeply grateful for my kettle when i get home as it is quite a long job to boil water in any quantity and I love my tea.

thanks....

I am thinking for festivals I only want to be able to boil water and cook bacon and eggs. (actually not sure I can be bothered with the washing up so just boil water)

Kelly Kettle?

the trangias are awful cute though.

I've used mine loads of times as it fits neatly in the tank bag of my bike, great for rallies and camping. Means we can get a cuppa in flash, very important after a long ride :) my DS1 loves cooking on this when it's just the two of us, if all four then we tend o grab a disposable BBQ to cater for the extra food needed.

You can get a gas converter thingy for a trangia and run it off a smallish gas bottle (the ones with the screw top). The gas converter bit fits nicely into the trangia for carrying. It boils water really fast.

Fabulous little stoves but also consider those tiny folding hexi burners (£2.99 in Aldi) they fit in your pocket or inside a mess tin.

I bought my trangia style stove by accident from Lidl, thought it was just a set of pans, which is what I needed to go with my tiny gas stove. I quite like to use both, the gas one is just the type that sits on the bottle. The gas is faster but the trangia better in wind. For making a cuppa, fill the kettle with just what you need. Makes a great rissotto.

I went to a festival last year with a friend who had one of those gas canister stoves in a case, she was so impressed with my compact trangia style stove she bought one.

Trangias are fab. Have tried loads and if you dont want to cook lots its reliable and easy to pack up. I recommend.
