Two man tent for the inept and lazy

Hello lovely helpful campers.

DD and I would like to keep a tent and a couple of sleeping bags in the car so that we can zoom to a couple of nearby campsites at a moment's notice. It'll be me, her and the dog and we don't intend to do any cooking or proper camping stuff, this is a socialising/use of pool and campsite thing.

Do I want a pop up tent or will they be like those bloody sun tent things and impossible to put away? DD is five so I'll be putting it up alone and I want to be able to get it up and down in ten minutes or there's little point - we want it for a last minute chasing the sun thing, not to stay more than a night.

Any ideas? And where are the bargains?

The ds's have this one
Now, it did take a little practice to start with but ds1 who is 15 can put it up and take it down in minutes on his own. They used it on a camping trip without us there.

The only thing I would say against it is that there's no porch so possibly could be cramped if the weather was bad and you were stuck in the tent. Decathlon also do this one which has a little porch you could fit a small table and a couple of seats in, not necessarily for eating but for reading or playing cards etc.

Aha, i've seen those on the ebays but I wasn't sure if they were numpty-proof.

It's no worries about the bad weather - we'll come home . We're only planning on going to a park up the road so DD can play with the other children and use the pool if it's hot.

we have the Decathlon xxl 1111, the second link from Chipmonkey. It is excellent and with a bit of practice it is easy to put up and down on your own.

I am liking the 'two minute up' promise of the pop up ones. I wonder about the two minute down though.

I have the one in the second link from Chipmonkey, too.

I have only tried it out in our spare room so far (not recommended) but did manage to fold it down on my own easily once I got the knack. Have a look on the Decathlon site or YouTube for real life demonstration before you set off.

Or look at this one which is bigger, has more head room and has a sewn in groundsheet in the porch area.

2nd the decathlon popups. 4.1 should suit you. 5 mins up, 10-15 mins down in my experience, and really fun.

Watch the refolding video here

I really think if you have a car, then you might as well get the bigger tent. Different if you were hiking over the Pyrenees or something!

Thank you all. I will prolly try to get one second hand but it's so helpful to have the names.
Need to act fast - looks like the weather is going to be kind Smile
