I have always loved the idea a Cobb but haven't been able to justify the cost. However I have a big birthday coming up this summer so - what do I need? Please tell me all :)

There are much more distinguished cobb-ers on here but we got one last year and it has been fab. Accessories depend on what you are going to cook. We have the roasting rack for obligatory roast (smallish) chicken, frying pan for bacon and eggs etc and wok for doing curries, bolognese etc. also take a small loaf tin which fits inside bag and a clicky lighter thing but not official Cobb stuff. Hope that helps!

Thanks, hadn't realised about bread, DS (6) will be delighted as he's a HUGE home-made bread fan and kneads like a demon :)

Anyone else around?

Oh I just bought myself a Cobb, any good recipe ideas lovely ladies.
I need to wow Dh with culinary delights to justify the expense.
I have a grill, roasting rack and frying pan.

I have one, hadn't had much chance to use it with all the rain we have had. Apart from the usual sausages etc, I have done some great jackets popped along the side of the fuel basket. I use fairly small pots cross cut and covered in foil. I have also had salmon and cod foil parcels in there as well. I did make a chocolate brownie but managed to burn the bottom but i forgot about it, the top was really nice. WRT accessories, I bought one of those small wok shaped pans with small handles and a copper bottom that are used for cooking curry and that fits really well and only cost £5.99 from tkmaxx, I did buy the propper Cobb frying pan and griddle though and I have a roasting rack from a bucket BBQ. I have some small webber foil trays that fit really well, so they would be good for days when I don't want to have to wash the Cobb up. I usually make bread rolls on the webber BBQ and have yet to try the Cobb.

Go to the actual Cobb website and watch obsessively for the big pack with lots of accessories in it. You save loads of money and get all the bits n bobs. We got the Cobb itself, the extension for the extra height, the flat plate, the ridged griddle plate, the deep wok pan, a handle, a carrying bag, and a cook book all for just about the normal price of the Cobb.
I've found that ours hasn't been staying alight very well lately, you must make sure the charcoal is bone dry and well alight before you put the plate/pan on or it goes out too soon. We eventually worked out the charcoal had got a bit damp and I've taken to sticking it in a bag with a squirt of that barbecue lighter gel stuff and letting it soak in for a while before we llight. That and total overkill on firelighters Grin
And if anyone knows where I can get proper Bryant and May firelighter matches I will love them forever, I can't find them anywhere :( and the cheapo own brand ones just aren't the same.
