campsites in Scotland-family friendly

Hi all, need a quick recommendation for campsites in Scotland not more than about 2 hours from Stirling. Love the west coast and Arisaig but all a bit of a trek for one night. Have a 3 and 1 year old and going with friends with similar aged kids. Any suggestions as going on Saturday....weather permitting!

St Andrews - Craigton. It;s beside Craigton park a good way to spend some time.

is that more than 2 hours away though??? nice wee play area and baths in the shower block and lots to do in st andrews.

Mmm Sarah I must look for mn scarf in The Marches. This is my fave for a one night trip coming from Stirling - www.nydie.co.uk/ very family friendly large area for DCs to play in the centre with goals, small play park and assorted toys provided by the lovely helpful owners. As there is no bar on site it tends to attract younger families, we were there last week got an EHU and were toasty. Immaculate toilet/shower block and handy covered camp kitchen, we hired a fire pit for £4 and toasted marshmallows
Of course if east coast weather gash then not far from Stirling is the very scenic -

Craigtoun is lovely but very difficult to camp as they only permit small tents and even then only at certain times, the lovely Craigton park is easily reached from Nydie as is St Andrews itself with its glorious beach. HTH

Nydie is great, we've been there a couple of times. Another one that we like but might be on the limit of 2hrs is Invernahavon nr Newtonmore, it's just a big field so great for just letting the kids run around. Comrie Croft is another one that I've heard good things about.

Note, things have changed at Craigtoun Park this year, it's now free to get in but I think you then have to pay individually for the train/golf/trampolines. As my DCs will happily spent all day on the train, I will be bankrupted if I have to pay per journey!

Hi I am new to the site and I really could use a little help no actually alot of help lol. I am from the Glasgow area and have been trying to pluck up the courage to take my 3 kids camping for about 2 months now. I set a deadline of this weekend so I am going to go for it!!

Have been researching campsites for days and feel so confused with all the mixed reviews I really need someone to point me in the right direction. Dont want to go any further than 2-3hrs in case it is a train crash of a holibag lol.

Kids are 3, 8 and 14.

Any help would be greatly recieved, and is there anywhere to hire camping equipment? I have a tent and sleeping bags but nothing else.
