I have just booked our first camping trip and have booked a pitch with electricity. Can anyone recommend a lantern / light?
I also need to buy a hook up cable and have just realised that's another £30 or so. Can you usually run a couple of things at a time e.g light and kettle?
Thanks!
Sb

I'm not sure it's a problem in the UK but on continental sites the ampage of the EHU is too low to run heated appliances like kettles or hairdryers because they need too much power, but lights and fridges are fine. Just check before you overload the curcuit and have to find the site manager to reset it! (I've never had to do this using my straightners Oh no! Blush)
I think we've got an old version of one of these. It lasts for ages and can be charged from the car if you ever stay somewhere without hook up in the future. The light it is a bit harsh on ours because I think it's a fluorescent tube type thing rather than led.
Take a fan heater!!!! and I know it's completely cheating but I have been known to take my microwave! (I was sterilising baby bottles at the time).
We also have a two way (240v or 12v but not gas which would make it three way but we didn't want to use gas all the time in the tent) fridge which is excellent, we even use it at home when we need extra space. It's a lot like one of these

Thanks for the advice loubielou31. We are staying in the UK this year and if we survive/even like it(!) we'll try abroad next year. A fridge is a great idea, didn't think of that.

The electricity abroad thing is only on some sites, (sorry) most are fine, I can't think what it is in the UK, usually about 13amps? 10 amps I think worked fine, but some were six and some that we stayed in in Italy were I'm sure only 3.
A fridge and a fan heater do make things much more pleasant, cold drinks but warm legs. Smile
