Where to camp on my own with two kids?

I'm going to camp in this country alone in June with my two DCs so I need somewhere that I'm not going to feel self conscious and they will find others to play with. It would need to be in the North of England or the Midlands. I like the idea of the ones that have activities/story telling/campfires if anyone knows of any.

I've camped on my own with my 3 boys here www.thequietsite.co.uk/
It was safe for them to run around, good showers and 2 family bathrooms, very family friendly with noise from kids at night (just so you don't feel too self-conscious), an onsite pub, soft play area and little games room. Oh, yes, and an adventure play area too. Plenty to do in the surrounding area for day trips too.
Good luck finding somewhere. Keep us posted as I'm always looking for new ideas.
This site is lovely too, but more low key www.masonscampsite.co.uk/

Hi - I went camping on my own with my ds's when they were 5 and 3 and I stayed here in Edale. The reviews on UK campsite are mixed but I loved it. There are various fields to camp in - I chose the one nearest the car park Grin. The best thing about it for me being on my own was that they had peak district park rangers who were around keeping an eye on the campsite - and it was very quiet. It's also got a visitor/information centre on the site - so somewhere to go when it rains (which it did). The showers and loos were clean and nearby and all in all we had a lovely time Smile.

Thank you for the replies. Migsy RL people have also recommended Rosedale Abbey campsite www.flowerofmay.com and Studfold Farm near How Stean Gorge.

I'm excited about all the trips now Grin

I took my niece camping to Robin Hood's Bay near Whitby on the East Coast, it was amazing!! I can't find the actual place but I remember there being a couple of sites with good facilities. Nice walks, close to Scarborough for days out and lots of other children. Fish and chips in the tent is one of my best memories with her Smile

Studfold farm is a nice place as is How Stean Gorge (especially as my friend's parents own the place)

I have camped on my own with the kids in loads of places but Ripley was pretty good but very expensive.

When I first camped on my own with dcs I went to a haven site.

They're not everyones cup of tea but the entertainment and swimming pool meant that there was plenty to do so that I wasn't in the tent on my own at night while the dcs went to sleep. Instead we stayed up and went to the family disco.

I met a few single parents there including a couple of lovely dads who were on there first break alone with dcs since separating from their wives.

Now that the dcs are older I camp wherever with them. The tempory holiday sites that the c&cc does are very good.
