If you have a fixed bed do you like it? If not, why not?

Also lots are advertised with a motor mover. Can you tell me what they are?

Not got a fixed bed - no idea. But Motor Mover - a magic remote controlled thing that moves your caravan so you can it into position (at campsite or in storage) really, really easily. You can turn it on a circle the size of a 5p piece. We bought our caravan from a friend and it had a motor mover - DH v v v glad we have it. They do add weight to the caravan though so be aware of that depending on what car you will use for towing.

Love our fixed bed, the storage underneath is phenomenal! If I was buying again I would go for an island fixed bed so you can get round both sides. At the moment DP has to climb over me to get to his side. My side is shorter to allow room to get to the sink area and toilet. The bed never looks as nice as the adverts though as during the day all the bedding from the family is thrown onto the bed and it looks a right dump!

We had a motor move put on ours a couple of years ago because our storage pitch was at an odd angle and our car doesn't have a decent lock to get in and out of tight spots. It's useful for hitching up and putting into position on site as well. You need a good battery though. Ours was old and the motor mover stopped working until we replaced the battery. Keep your battery charged! There's nothing worse than relying on the motor mover and realising it's not working!

Thanks. The van we have seen has 2 single fixed beds at the back with bathroom and kitchen in the middle and living come bedroom at the front.

Motor Movers are a great device (expensive) but great. Im in the Caravan Business and for a lot of My older customers with arthritis, bad backs, hips etc These movers are a god send! LeeCoakley is right about the battery though, You must have a full working order Battery for the Movers to work correctly, Most of the time when there is a problem with the movers it is down to the Battery. I'm not sure about fixed beds, I run a shop online selling all caravan parts and my husband has the luxury of going in the big outdoors and servicing and repairing them so he see's allsorts of different Vans, I havnt seen many with fixed beds (other than one which was a Hobby and I really liked it). I am jumping into the Caravanning world this year for the first time and I'm really excited about it, We will not be towing but have arranged a season pitch at Haven Mabelthorpe, pitching next weekend till november. Do You guys pitch all season or Tow? I'd love to tow and have the choice of where to go but with work being so busy this time of year I dont really have a choice :(

We're looking to tow. We need a van less than 19ft so we can keep it at home.

Looks like going for one with a mover is a good choice then.

We have a tourer, fixed double bed. I do love the fixed bed as I dont have to make it up every night
Our caravan is currently for sale though as I want one with fixed bed and bunks! Only because the DC sleep at the front and when they go to bed I end up in bed too as no other seating....
The two fixed singles wouldn't suit us.

As to the mover, we had one but it wasn't great for moving our twin axel and DH manages better without it.

Have fun caravan hunting :)
