Which small tent?

I have a family tent but:

  1. I'm going to a festival this summer by myself
  2. I'm going for a night's camping with DD1(8) and DD2(3)
  3. Family tent won't fit in the garden
  4. I'm single now so fancy something easier to put up for short breaks

I was thinking of a pop up tent but my bil suggested a teepee as being easy to put up and take down.

What do you think?

We have an outwell 3 man pop-up
It's very nice.I would say its a comfortable 2 man tbh...But 1 adult and two littlees would be fine.

I have a Vango Dart 300 DS. I'm on my own usually but two small children would be Ok, I think.

Oo Oo Ooo, I've just bought a quecha 2 seconds xxl 4 man tent, ok, I've only put it up Nd down once and not actually slept in it but it seems great. Like you I wanted a roomy festival tent. I watched the video a few times and followed the instructions on the tent, and still managed to get it back in the bag in 5 mins. Am very pleased. Was on special at decathlon, 90 quid.

thrifty · 12/04/2012 18:54

Oh and that quecha has a little flap that sits over the door to stop the rain getting in when the door is open. Ingenius. If you buy a teepee and it rains, every time you open the door the inside of your tent gets wet.

i recently bought the same tent as thrifty, for a bargainacious £90. this one
It's spacious without being huge, and easy to put up and pack away.

The circular bag is quite big but has rucksack style straps so easy to carry.

thrifty · 12/04/2012 19:58

Ooo, have you used it yet chippy?

ChippyMinton · 12/04/2012 20:26

Only in the garden so far, but booked to go for the early may bank hliday weekend Smile.
I think I'll practice folding it up a few times to spare my Blush as we will be with a big group who will not hesitate to help take the mick!

thrifty · 12/04/2012 21:22

LOL, same here, first venture out will be may bank holiday, staying in it for a wedding, so not sure how easy it'll be to take down after a skinfull. :)

Those Vango teepee tents leak like a bastard. there was a guy in a pink one of those next to our group at a festie last year and he moaned about it something chronic. We had rain and the inside was soaking.

pictish · 12/04/2012 21:30

So err....maybe the other one.

ninja · 12/04/2012 22:47

Thanks - I secretly wanted people to agree with me that a pop-up tent was a good idea :)

I didn't realise the XL was on special offer so I might have to snap that up.

We have the same one as Thrifty.
It is fantastic. We have used it several times now for weekends away and overnight stops on way through France.
It is very easy to put up and pack away once you get the knack, and the instructions on the bag are excellent.
We are a family of 4 and plenty of room.
Lastly, before I keep rambling on, we were caught in a massive thunderstorm in France last year and the tent stayed completely dry, no leaking at all

ninja · 15/04/2012 15:43

All ordered! Thanks. Just need some sun now! :)
