What should I be looking for? Any recommendations?

Couldn't help on the electric coolboxes but always worth checking whether your campsite has freezers for cool blocks. Always quite useful.

Is it for something in particular, eg medicines? I think some of the electric fridges fluctuate around a set temperature, so dip really quite cool then warm again.

I got mine for £5 from a bootsale.

I think it's best to avoid fan in the lid, they drip.

No, we have camped for years without EHU and using a normal coolbox, either exchanging freezer blocks or just buying fresh each day. Succumbed to getting EHU, so thought it was worth upgrading. Trouble is, we're not prepared to spend flashy amounts, was hoping cheap and cheerful would do the job! Having trawled some threads it would seem Lidl and Aldi sometimes comes up trumps- anyone got one from here?

You're not joining the clamour ofr an Icey Tek, then? Non-electric boxes that keep stuff frozen for up to 10 days?

V cheerful (in such gorgeous colours) but not cheap.

I would love love an Icey tek, and DH would probably prefer it too, but if we got that DD2 would have to go without a new sleeping bag we also need- hmmm, she's not really going to mind that much is she?

Ours is a Lidl electric one - fan in the lid so as tread points out you can get a bit of liquid inside from time to time but its not a problem particularly. It runs off the cigarette lighter and has a UK plus EU plug. Its great tbh. We tend to get it going in the house before going on the trips. You can't get shedloads of stuff into it, but its mostly for milk and beer and it is more than adequate. We have had it for, oh, about 6 or 7 years now, I reckon. Paid about £25 from memory.
