trying to choose a campsite for 1st proper family camping trip in June

Hmmm. I'm looking for some help choosing a campsite for our first proper family camping trip. (I've tagged along with others in the past this time it's just us) DH has got 12 - 24 June free so we are thinking about 5 nights ish. I've a DD who will be nearly 4 and a DS who will be nearly 2. (this is the last time we will be able to go in term time as DD starts school in sept)

I think we want something quiet and simple (hot showers and loos essential but that's about it) where the children can just explore and chill and ride their bikes. (but if the weather's rubbish I guess we'll need some days out options) DS in particular is animal crazy especially farm animals. We don't really want to travel more than 2 hours to get there. (We live HP15, near High Wycombe)

I was thinking maybe the New Forest or Swanage, but open to other suggestions. I like the idea of staying in a wood, but I am being rather indecissive!

Thanks for your help.

We have just returned from Norden Farm near Swanage and apart from the cold (def not camping in early April again!!!) we liked the site. It is on a working farm which should suit your DS!!

The New forest is lovely and you are never far away from lots of things to do. Been a while since I camped there so can't really recall any site names!

Have a fab time.

Hi Monkeychicken

I can highly recommend The Inside Park at Blandford, Dorset. I have dcs at similar ages to yours and they had a ball. We have just returned this week and liked it so much we've booked to go back soon!

Oh I was hoping I could recommend Sandy Balls!

You won't be disappointed!

New Forest lovely..we stayed at ?Roundhill which is a Forestry Commission site there and I can't recommend it highly enough.
Wonderful open space with ponies wandering through and lots of trees and hedges, and lovely unlimited hot showers too.
Look at ukcampsite website and they have oodles of recommendations..like a TripAdvisor for UK camping!
Hope you have alovely time (we did)
