Children's camping table and chairs

Can you recommend a set?

My children are four and nearly 2.

I want a lowish table but an adjustable one would be good.

Thanks.

We have these

low table

duck chair

Table looks good. Thanks.

I saw that chair. Do you think it will suit a two-year old? I'm thinking of using the table and chair int he garden too for sanda nd water play and that kind of thing, so they'd need to lean forward.

Chair v cute BTW. Did you know you can get a frog too?

Yes but DS is obsessed with yellow so it had to be a duck. I think the chair would be ok for a two year old. I did see some smaller ones in Homebase last year - too small for DS who was 3 at the time.

Thinking about it, the table might be a little small for two children to have a meal at.

latrucha · 15/03/2012 20:13

Hmm. It is pretty small.

Bumping!

Also bumping as my DC are nearly 2 and nearly 3.5 and I'd like to buy something that we can use in our garden and take with us when we go away with the tent or caravan.

We borrowed a fold up picnic table like this last year and it did the job but wasn't perfect as DD needed help getting up and down and they did need to actually sit at the table in order to draw/play with toys etc.

neverquitesure · 15/03/2012 21:27

Hmmmm, I wonder whether happyhorses low table would work with those adult sized but very low beach chairs?

Not the one in the link, something a bit cheaper and lighter. Will have to have a google and see what I come up with.

neverquitesure · 15/03/2012 21:30

This one from John Lewis would be good if it didn't tilt backwards. And only £9 too.

neverquitesure · 15/03/2012 21:40

These ones on eBay look pretty good, and no uncomfortable bar running across the front under their legs if they are leaning forwards painting etc. I think they would fall down the back if they tried to sit back on them though!

Still, not a bad option I think.

neverquitesure · 15/03/2012 21:51

Brilliant, brilliant table here on eBay. Other sellers have it in pink too.

I am tempted to order one, but can't find suitable chairs (think the beach ones may be too low?)

Would work really well with sand and water too.

neverquitesure · 15/03/2012 22:00

Yet another chair. Pretty funky looking one from Tesco. No seat height but possibly also a little low?

I'm starting to think seat cushions might be an option!

latrucha · 16/03/2012 07:03

Sorry neverquite - I went to bed!

The plastic table is good but maybe a bit small?

I find it quite odd that the market hasn't spotted a need for this. I guess children can sit on big chairs quite soon but big chairs don't cover the kind of multi tasking we're after.

Search continues.

Maybe a table each is the answer.

Tried to post last night but mn went down (how very dare they!)

We have the IKEA Mammut round table & chairs in our house which I tend to carry into the garden for craft activities etc. We have the rectangular one elsewhere in the house which is also a good size.

It's not hugely portable although the legs do pull off but if you wanted it primarily for garden use and have a big boot it might be an option.

You are right though, there's not a great choice!

The 50cm x 50cm folding table will suit our camping needs and be big enough for the children to have their lunch on/pot plants etc in our garden without me having to carry the IKEA one out all the time so I think I've partially solved my problem but seems like you'll have to keep looking!

latrucha · 17/03/2012 15:00

Hmm. Buisness idea....

We have used everything. The best we have found are the rectangle tables that fold in half with a handle on the end.Ours is big, folds down flat in the car and has adjustable legs.We use ours for crafts with 2/3 year olds then take it camping with our 7/8 year olds.We have folding cheap stools that fold flat so the dc can get their legs under or just regular Outwell chairs.

Wish I'd saved myself a fortune ages again and bought it in the first place. We have one in the tent for colouring and one outside/in the awning for meals.

latrucha · 17/03/2012 15:13

Any chance of a link to the table? Or was it the one already linked to?

OP posts:
MrsHeffley · 17/03/2012 15:15

Ours is a Wynnster one but I looked on Amazon and they have what they call a folding trestle table that looks very similar.

latrucha · 17/03/2012 15:36

Ah good. I've seen this and it looks good.

OP posts:
jamaisjedors · 18/03/2012 20:31

Just wondering if you really need a table for the children? Ours would rather sit at the table with us or on a picnic mat next to one of the (many) plastic boxes we use to store our stuff in. They were also used as a colouring in/card table on rainy days.

Although I understand that part of the fun is buying new stuff! Wink

latrucha · 18/03/2012 20:33

Really, I was thinking of doubling it up as a play table for the garden. Every year I debate whether to get a sand and water table and never do although I know they'd love it. I thought it might be a way round.
