Eurocamp, siblu or keycamp - which is best?

Anyone got recent experiences of any of the above and if so which is the best?
Currently thinking of going to Le Mounterey in Frejus with Siblu.
Thanks!

Out of those only used keycamp as a teenager so can't offer any advice. It was lovely so long ago! but You might also want to check out Yelloh Village. We had a lovely holiday in Les Petits Camarguais a few years ago. It was a very well-run site with lots for the children to do.

ChippyMinton · 23/02/2012 17:30

I think Siblu only use their own sites, whereas the other two take pitches on sites run by a third party, such as Castels & Camping or Yelloh. This gives a different atmosphere and mix of nationalities. Depending on age of DC I would check out the whether the kids clubs are operator- or campsite-run.

theplumfairy · 23/02/2012 19:32

Will do- haven't heard of yelloh so will def take a look at them.
DS is 2.5, not sure how much he will enjoy kids clubs as we've not been on a holiday like this before but am intrigued to find out!
I am leaning towards siblu, they seem to get good reviews on tripadvisor...

I was about to suggest yelloh! Have several friend who swear by them, we're considering them for next year

lemonbonbons · 24/02/2012 07:43

Did keycamp 2 years ago at La Croix (sp?) near Paris . It was very expensive with keycamp and very 'Brits abroad' - The company seemed to attract quite a 'chavy' customer ! Maybe it was because the campsite was quite near Disneyland ?

I haven t looked at booking with them again. I would go to the park again though but I'd take my own tent.

P.S. Have you thought about doing it through the sun newspapers £9.50 offer - they cover lots of parks in France that are owned by the companies you have mentioned, you also get cheap ferry crossings. Think you are a bit too late for this year tho - but maybe not ( get code words from money saving expert forum )

twooter · 24/02/2012 07:53

I've done a couple of keycamps and I eurocamp ( and I'm not chavvy). I prefer keycamp as the eurocamp caravan we had wasn't quite as nice, although on the whole they're very similar, I just think we had a bad one one year. Usually it doesn't matter which of those two you book with - just compare prices, as all the parcs are the same anyway. We tend to go to the castels ones, and have always been pleased.

twooter · 24/02/2012 07:56

Oh, fuck it, maybe I am.

lemonbonbons · 24/02/2012 08:33

Ha ha - as I must be ! I think it's cause we were near Disney that it was not the 'usual' camping crew. They ( this is the chav brigade) were all renting 'keycamp' hot tubs too , for outside their mobile homes and tents. Grin

Baileyscoffeeandcampfires · 24/02/2012 10:52

Key camp and euro camp are owned by the same company and often share kids clubs / reps. Keycamp tend to be more expensive for some reason.

We tend to use canvas as they are generally cheaper. Mobile homes are much the same over all 3 companies and cleanliness is just luck as to what the reps on your site (who do the cleaning as well) are like.

Havnt used siblu to can't comment.

lilibet · 24/02/2012 11:04

We've been with all of them and honestly there's not much to choose between them, as others have said Siblu own their own sites while the other two have spaces on other people's sites.

Siblu take tesco vouchers though Smile but you can't have overnight stays with them Sad which has always been a bit of a pain for us.

This year we are going with Thompsons as they take tesco vouchers and have caravans on the site we want to go to - La Grande Metarie.

Have a great time.

GnomeDePlume · 24/02/2012 23:44

We have used Eurocamp, Canvas and Siblu. We will never, ever go with Siblu again.

  • campsite courier wanted to do a military accomodation style march out and expected us to do a full end of let clean (we do clean & tidy before we leave but they wanted more)
  • kids courier was bone idle
  • accomodation was just a bit crap

Canvas are good

Eurocamp are good

chipmonkey · 24/02/2012 23:49

WTF? I do think it's only fair to leave the place reasonably clean but that sounds appalling!

GnomeDePlume · 25/02/2012 00:02

Hi Chip

It was which is why it still rankles now

IMO Eurocamp & Canvas offer good accomodation away from the big coastal resorts. They both offer a good range of inland campsites.

ENormaSnob · 25/02/2012 17:12

We stayed at la garangeoire with keycamp.

Great holiday, lovely site and easy from booking to leaving. I would book with them again.

We are taking our own tent to a yelloh site this year.

singarainbow · 25/02/2012 17:23

stayed at both keycamp and Siblu. I much preferred siblu for kids, its has all the kids clubs, evening discos/pirate dinners lots of stuff for kids. They have lots of activities for kids from 1-12, and I think if the kids are busy, the parents are happy!!! and we certainly were! Keycamp, didnt have so much going on, but maybe some like that better.

inthisdayandage · 25/02/2012 17:24

Find all similar- have you looked at booking a holiday direct with Brittany ferries- lots of the same campsites as eurocamp / key camp but tons cheaper.

RedHotPokers · 25/02/2012 17:28

Have gone to France with eurocamp a few times, and found them v good. Think it depends on type of site. Have stayed near Paris and it IS very brits abroad, but smaller rural resorts are charming and v french.

slalomsuki · 25/02/2012 17:28

Done Siblu and Canvas a few times in France

Siblu were better by far and seemed interested in the place and the kids. The mobiles were better quality and more space between them. Kids clubs were inclusive and the sites seemed to be safer as they were laid out better. Canvas were cheaper but the mobiles were a bit "tinny" and certainly traveller worn.

scotlass · 25/02/2012 20:01

Had a really bad experience with Eurocamp at Paris a couple of years ago. Van was beyond filthy (blood stained mattress etc etc). Will never go with them again as customer service was atrocious. THey were great at Jura site though.

Keycamp and siblu looked OK from outside

theplumfairy · 27/02/2012 19:15

Brilliant - thanks for all the advice, although I was on the verge of booking Siblu and after reading the mixed reviews I'm not sure what to do! Seems like service etc really varies between campsites for all of them.
Anyone been to Le Montourey with Siblu?
