How do you cook?

I'm fairly new to camping and am trying to figure out the best way to cook - we have a two burner and grill camping stove and last year I cooked inside the tent, but I've since discovered this is a big no no because of the fire hazard. oops!

Anyway, how do you seasoned campers cook outside? I'm thinking maybe a low table and a windbreak? But what if it rains?

Also, our stove is really bulky - it's got one of those heavy refillable camping gaz cannisters. Anyone care to recommend me their wonderful (and not too expensive!) stove?

Thanks in advance.

If I was just going for a weekend I think I'd either find a pub or a chippy and not bother cooking at all.

Think I will join Beamer. Can we survive on baked beans, spaghetti, jelly pots. Grin
Will need my cuppa though?

we have the George Foreman grill and griddle. Means you can cook inside because its electric ..... plus its fabulous!!

xmyboys - have a look at Trangias if you just want to be able to boil water, they pack up very small and burn meths, are difficult to knock over and work in pretty much all weather. We usually take ours even if we're camping for longer and taking the burners as the trangia is so quick to boil water for a drink.

I've got a Ghillie kettle and am also planning on buying a plug in, electric hobb.

I've got a dutch oven, does anyone know if I can use it on an electric hob?
