Hello all,
This is my first post in camping, although I have lurked a bit and got some good tips
. We are beginner campers and got an Outwell Nevada M on friend's recommendation last year. We did a test pitch and it had a hole in the window, so I took it back and got another. That one had a loop missing so we couldn't toggle up the front door. I took that back too and thought sod it, our planned festival camping didn't work out anyway so I left it.
We still had a footprint though (came free with the first tent) and then DH got given the carpet for his birthday, so we decided to give it another go and bought yet another tent. This one is missing the doormat and has got a hole in the fabric above the inside pole, near the front door. I emailed Outwell about it because I thought we would repair it (it's a total arse ache for us to take them back and to test pitch them- our garden is too small so have to drive two hours to my mum and dad's).
Sooo Outwell have sent me a doormat and a 'repair kit' which requires me to double stitch fabric and then iron on tape, frankly it sounds like a pain in the arse and I'm not sure how strong it will be. Also they seem to think that this is the ultimate customer service and I think it is the least they could do. What I would like to do is take the buggering thing back and never buy any more of their products, BUT we do like the tent and now we have the accessories, and lots of people seem to rave about it.
So, what do you seasoned campers think? Will it be solid if I fix it? Shall I just take it back and sell the accessories?
Is there a well known outdoor retailer buying up faulty tents and hoping noone notices??
