Camping in the summer half term - everywhere booked already?

Oh this is tiresome.

We want a naice campsite with toilets and hot showers in the south east, for a group of 4/5 families, some of who want to camp for the whole week and the others want to be there for part of the week, in early June.

Is it too much to ask?

Anyone got any suggestions?

Tia

Think you might find it tricky - I booked a month ago and my first-choice campsite was full, and I got the last remaining pitch in my second choice. Even then they only had two nights free (for the double bank holiday weekend). You'll just have to keep ringing round and hope you get lucky. Whereabouts in the SE are you looking?

Tanner Farm Park in Kent? Nice toilets/showers. I just had a check for availability for that week and there is some, although it says availability low so not sure if enough for your whole group.

Bridge Villa at Wallingford is nice - lovely facilities. Does get quite crowded though and no idea about availability for summer half term!

OK by the look of it Normans Bay has some availability for that week, it's a lovely site where we used to go when we lived in London :)

have you tried Forgewood? It's lovely and ideal for meet ups but not sure if it would qualify as 'naice' (although the cafe definitely would).

Thanks for replies, will have a look at all of these.

Cheerup, we have been in touch with Forgewood but unfortunately they will only accept us if we book for the whole week (£210 per family) which is just too much for those of us who only want 2 or 3 nights. Thanks for the suggestion though Smile.

Ouch... we're going to the Loire valley here for 7 nights including the ferry for less than that! I do like Forgewood but like so many British sites I think they massively take advantage of during school holidays.

cheerup · 11/02/2012 16:25

On reflection and to be fair, Forgewood is pretty price all year round and I don't actually think they put their prices up during the school holidays. Are they asking for that much to guarantee you can all pitch together?

bibbitybobbityhat · 11/02/2012 18:03

Yes. We are not going to go for it, at least I'm not, there's no way we can justify spending £70 per night for a pitch!
