Are there any hotels/motels/b&bs/rooms etc that sleeps 5, either in dover or within an hour of calais?

Looking for a room for 5, either in dover or within an hour of calais, as a stopover on our way to holiday.

Cheap as possible really, hence the reluctance to book 2 rooms.

A clean bed and clean shower are the only requirements.

Thanks in advance.

Premier Inn do special deals and probably a good place to look. Most of their family rooms are for 2 adults 2 children plus cot

OK, it's not exactly what you're looking for but stay with me because... Formule 1 hotel chain is cheap as chips and clean and close to motorways etc etc etc.

Formule 1 website

Can be anything from £19 per room (sleeps 3) to £50 per room. breakfast not included, not ensuite. However, we're a family of 5 and we just book rooms alongside each other and it works out for a night. I've just booked two rooms in Dinard this August for one night for £52 total, including taxes.

Premier Inn and Travel Inn will have a baby under two (plus two more kids) plus two adults in a family room but you're struggling once they're all over two.

If you need 5 bed spaces it isn't easy. Well, actually it is- look for chambres d'Hotel.

We have used the owners direct website and another one I can't recall. We have had family rooms and "family suites" with interconnecting rooms too. Small B+B type quirky places and lovely.

If you aren't confident staying off the beaten track and your youngest is not big then you might get away with calling them "the baby" and co sleeping or sticking 3 kids in the double bed and you and DH in the bunks. Otherwise it's 2 rooms and a miserable night for everybody.

Whilst the kids were small after about the 3rd time to france (when the youngest got to 2yrs or so) we travelled overnight - nearly killed us but saved on costs and actually they slept and we split the driving.

ASk if you can have an extra bed in the family suite here?

We stayed at the Suite Hotel in Calais on our way back from a holiday in France last year.

The room was great - you could slide a blind/partition-type thing across the room to partition it. It also had a basic kitchen area with a kettle, microwave and tiny fridge.

Our room was a double and two singles but there would have been room for a cot or another single so it may be worth looking at their rooms

Thanks for the replies.

The youngest will be 2.5 when we travel and is well used to sleeping in with me and his dad!

I didn't realise premier inn did cot space, I always thought it was max 4 to a room.

We have considered doing it in one hit but am a little worried it will be too much for the dc.
