We have most pf the major camping gear and did a bit of camping this year. Planning on going more next year. My DH's birthday is september so a fair way through camping season. So i thought i would get him some camping kit for christmas.

Any recommendations. Budget £100 absolute max.

It depends how rustic you go when camping, but a storm kettle (sometimes called a Kelly kettle) is a nice bit of kit. Brings out the "man, hairy hunter" in them!

An Icey Tek cool box?
If you do camp fire type sites, what about a tripod and Ducth Oven or a camp fire grill for cooking directly over the fire?
Or a pie iron for making toasted sandwiches and other things over a fire?

oooh, that pie iron looks ace. have you used one yourself blu?

Blu · 21/11/2011 11:41

No, but I have used an ordinary domestic sandwich toaster like this, which was great on a camping stove, but the short, and plastic handles make it not sutable for using on a fire. So I am hankering after a pie iron. Esp one of those that can do two sandwiches at once, so that the queue isn't too long!

yup, eying up the double square one too. who would buy the single version i wonder? someone slim and childless. and single. some kind of solo camper who doesn't really like toasted sarnies that much Grin

Some good recipes here!

And loads more by Googling.

I have to have one!

vouchers for camping??

Ooh Blu, that pie iron link is great - dh would love the waffle one. We've got one similar to the round pie iron and it's great.

If you go camping where fire / smoke is allowed, I'd second the Storm kettle. My favourite bit of camping kit.

Again, would only really work if rustic camping, but would he like an axe? [mad woman emoticon]. Otherwise, what about a couple of smaller things, including a firestriker?
