Hi Gear inflatable sleeping mats - any good?

We're not well known for lightweight camping, but I want to rectify the situation, and downsize substantially at times so that we can nip away for 1 night camping trips when the UK weather catches us unaware (you know, the weekends unusually early or late in the year that you wished you had gone camping but didn't!) so I'm looking into gettins us all inflatable sleeping mats so that all 4 of us can fit in our old Coleman Bispace 400 that DH and I used to use pre-ds's!

Gooutdoors have some Hi Gear mats that look good and feel comfy when we lie on them for a minute or two in the shop Blush, but are they worth the money (£40) or is there someting better? We will only use them occsionally so I don't want to spend a fortune.

They are better than those foam mat thingies so popular until now.
And IMHO they are better than airbeds, which don't support you, rather they just roll you onto the least inflated part.

We use inflatable mats, but they are thick Thermarests and ££££££££. However they did us proud for 3 weeks camping round Europe, so yes i would say worth the money.

If the reviews are ok on the HiGear ones then yes, i would go for them as a concept IYSWIM?

If they are the Self -inflating ones then yes they do appear to be worth it.
DS (A tall 15 yo) went camping, for the first time, for a week in the summer and said it was very comfortable and that he slept very well.

Yes, the self inflating ones. I don't want to spend mega bucks, just to be comfortable for the odd one night trip when we don't want to pack all of our kit that we would take for longer trips.

I'm v comfy on the cheap gelert hiker one we got - tonnes comfier than an airbed but warmer than the old fashioned foam ones. We went for a few nights in a friends static caravan and would have been loads comfier on out SIMs than the 'proper' bed in a caravan......

Our single one was about £20 from Go Outdoors!

Father Christmas brought them so we're all set Grin
