any suggestions? We love Sandy Balls, but don't want to travel that far this time (we're in the midlands) - but any suggestions welcome for future reference.

Somewhere forest-y with activities for kids (not just kids club playing football!), ideally arts & crafts, nature activities etc. Just like Sandy Balls really!!

Thanks Smile

Sort of thing I'd be interested in doing also. Dont mind spending the extra money either.

addictediam · 07/09/2011 09:42

Wow, sandy balls looks gorgeous! It's going on my list of places to visit!

DoolallyMarjorie · 07/09/2011 17:35

Perhaps there aren't any others! Perhaps Sandy Balls should start branching out a little further north....!

Have you looked at Kelling Heath in Norfolk?

lisad123 · 11/09/2011 23:34

just dont do forest holidays they are huge, and naff

DoolallyMarjorie · 12/09/2011 13:48

Ooh Kelling Heath, forgot about them!

Lisad123, why join in the conversation then?

Because it's good to know what to avoid too. Forest holidays are huge and have loads of sites

DoolallyMarjorie · 12/09/2011 21:14

Oh I see, I apologise, I thought you meant forest holidays as a genre, rather than a brand, and couldn't understand why you would say that! Makes sense now Blush

Thanks for the tip, I will avoid them!

LOL relaised that later this afternoon.

Is the pool, etc included in the price of the touring pitch, or are there lots of extras to pay when you're there at Sandy Balls?

Looks pretty good to me, was just researching a cheap package somewhere overseas but can't quite justify the spend when we have another baby on the way, so this might be a nice compromise.

Have just booked Sandy Balls for the first weekend of half-term after reading this thread. Wanted longer but fully booked in 'dog allowed' fields. Sad

Bustle · 15/10/2011 11:43

Oops sorry redbluegreen - yes swimming is included, and some kids activities, but some you have to pay for. I think last time we went it was about £2.50 for biscuit making and decorating, clay, archery etc, but painting and treasure hunts were free.

We love Sandy balls too.

Broadway park in Somerset is sort of getting there in terms of site, less u market but not in a bad way. Esy to access from Midlands as well.

I like Forest Hols Lisa but it does depends when you go and where: we tend to go there as a last minute weekend type thing and avoid busy school hols.
