Thanks Blu, Wild Woodland sounds good. Can I live with no hot water, this is the question. I think I probably can.

Enjoy Welsummer!

I like the campfire grill. DH would love that.

Clippenham does look nice, too - you can have fires, and there's so much do do round that area in terms of great days out - Beachy Head, the downs, beaches, the Royal Observatory Astronomy Evenings...

this one is £7 per pitch

Washington near Storrington is lovely. Not cheap but good facilities and great for dc's as there is a stream at the bottom of the field and trees to climb.

The ds's love it there.

EggyAllenPoe · 28/06/2011 19:17

sorry i mean this one which i stayed at a few weekends ago could use better dog-walks, though there is an ok road-walk to Beckley.

MisSalLaneous · 28/06/2011 20:08

Hi doozle. :) No, sorry, I don't have any other suggestions as we tend to go back to the same ones. (Which is getting spectacularly difficult with having to book ages ahead, isn't it?!)

That Hidden Spring Vineyard one looks lovely, I've considered that before. If I'm honest, I prefer ever so slightly more private pitches, but the animal life and farm set-up more than makes up for it. Should really try and book.

Blu, you'll love Welsummer. Like doozle said, it's very basic, but lovely. Have some tea and cake under the tree if they have some. Such a happy place.

With Forgewood, we lucked out a bit and camped on the back field on our own (well, with one other family that came with us). We were booked in woodlands, but I think bluebells flowered then or something, so pitches weren't available as planned. No issue, and owner was nice. Front field too full for me, I wouldn't stay there. If you're not fussed about that though, it's probably ok.

doozle · 28/06/2011 20:48

Thanks Sal. Did you camp on the Tipi Trail at Wowo then? I can see that being more private than the fields.

Woodland Farm has some woodland pitches too (surprisingly enough :-)). You might like it there. Very small site, only maybe 7 or 8 pitches in total. Not sure many other kids to play with though.

MisSalLaneous · 28/06/2011 21:52

Yep, Frank's Spot. It's the best one imo (we're returning to exact same spot in a couple of weeks), as it's completely at the end of it, so no-one running through, quieter, very private. Only downside is the schlepp to the pitch, as it is relatively far. I can't remember wheelbarrows there, so we used folding trolley thing we have + pretended we were donkeys... Worth it though.

MisSalLaneous · 28/06/2011 21:55

Thanks for Woodland Farm tip, will look there. Not too fussed about other children just yet (ds is 3, and is still, for the moment anyway, happy enough with our company).
