Cutting a big fat hole in my bell tent

Talk me through it. Not the technical bits, Google is my friend and all that, but I need emotional support! D-day is tomorrow. Have scissors to hand, glaring at me... How did you do it? Done the deed, then hoped and prayed it would be fine when you camp, or did you do a little test before? I'm so nervous, but as this is my Big Brilliant Idea, I cannot admit my sheer terror to dh.

This stove better be worth it! My (non existing) manicurist will be heartbroken to see me now.

Boo to mrsal!!

MisSalLaneous · 12/06/2011 10:21

Ooh yes, I like the sound of that, Prince.

need, I'm not really too fussed about that, as he won't leave me on my own, and I won't leave my tent alone! Soggy-campers-R-us.

I'm taking the dcs away next weekend and DH keeps gleefully pointing out how miserable the weather forecast is (he's not coming)

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 12/06/2011 13:57

Sal, where did you get your stove from? Can you post lots of info afterwards? We've had our bell tent for about three years now and have NEVER had a rainfree camp so am seriously tempted by a stove, juts need to convince DH...

MisSalLaneous · 12/06/2011 21:37

I bought it from Pedlars, Oranges. Oddly, taking into account the prices they charge for some things, Pedlars was the cheapest. Including delivery, they were even cheaper than directly from the distributors. Delivered next day, so I can highly recommend them. Well, for Frontier stoves anyway, I've always just pointed and laughed at some prices I saw there...

Oh dear, Sal, is there no such thing as a professional tent-cutter? Because I know if that were me it would end with a larger hole than required and me in tears. However I was the worst at sewing in my class in school so hopefully you are better than that?

MisSalLaneous · 12/06/2011 22:33

Uhm, no, I could probably give you a run for your money on rubbish sewing skills! Even made the scones flop, there was no hope of me ever becoming a domestic goddess, sadly.

Oh dear oh dear. I'm still planning on making asking dh to do it whilst I calm my nerves with wine. Saying that, the two of us wallpapering one wall in our bedroom almost ended in divorce, so I can see how this plan of mine might not be so brilliant after all...

Oh wine sounds good! Or it would do if I wasn't pregnant and heaving at the thought of the stuff! I liked liking wine........

MisSalLaneous · 12/06/2011 23:01

Congratulations, I didn't know you're pregnant! Hmm yes, 9 months without wine and then months of not sleeping seems a bit cruel at times, doesn't it?!

Thanks, Sal! It has knocked my camping plans on the head as I am still puking most mornings ( 19 weeks now, will it ever end?) and the thought of puking into campsite loos or a kampa Khazi is pretty offputting.

MisSalLaneous · 13/06/2011 19:49

Hmm yes, they're not too attractive as it is - combined with pregnancy nausea and you've got my sympathy!
