Recommendations for gazebo/day tent?

Hi everybody,

I'm already dreaming and planning for our camping holiday this summer. We're going to France for 2 weeks so want to be as comfy as possible. We've decided that our old 3X3 pop up gazebo did a good job but is really too big and heavy to pack in the car.

We are looking for something to be our outdoor space and some shelter for any bad weather. I've started doing some research online and have discovered day tents but they are a bit more expensive.

Does anybody have any experience or any recommendations? Any advice is welcome!

Decathlon do "tarps" here but I don't know if you are near one.

They come highly recommended on Uk campsite (I have also been planning and dreaming recently!) and will probably get one.

Thank you! I haven't seen those before - now more to choose from! :-)

We have a bigger, hexagoanl version of this but then we go group camping and it was so worth the investment. (The one we have opens out at every side to make a huge shelter area, or you can zip up inside it when it storms as it is very waterproof.

Thanks Milliways (from Millipip - ha ha!). I've been looking at that one. We always go to the same campsite in France and know that they don't mind what you put on your pitch (we even get the same pitch!) so something like this would be great. Is it safe to cook in/under it?

I don't know what the recommendations are, but I suppose if you had low heat on a stove right in the middle away from the walls?

We have cooked under a porch made from the door but never inside. We have a windbreak with built in roof cover that we use for cooking under. This one, only £19.99 but VERY fiddly to put up (but good when up) and not sure how much I recommend it compared to a beach windbreak really.

Thank you Milliways. I've just booked a few days after easter but they don't allow gazebos! I wonder if they would allow a windbreak hmmmm....

I think I will go for the day shelter for france in the summer though.
