Best/ easiest/ cheapest/ friendliest fly- drive camping in France?

I know I'm asking a lot...
We normally camp in Britain with our own tent and were planning on doing France with it this year but now think we'd rather go with Eurocamp or similar. We're near Birmingham/ Bristol airports and would like to fly somewhere in France that is fairly near a family friendly, busy site that has good recommendations.

We could cross the Channel by ferry but the few quotes I got were fairly expensive so I thought flying would be easier and quicker Smile
Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Eurocamp and similar usually include a ferry crossing, depending on which route you want to take eg the western/overnight routes tend to be £££. Have you got any holiday quotes yet?

TBH I'd take the car, then you can load it up with all manner of useful kit, beach stuff, bedding, toys etc. The drive isn't too bad if you are well-prepared.

If I was going to fly (or take the train?) I'd head for one of the sites on the Med - provence or languedoc. Because Brittany or Vendee are an easy drive.

Agree with Chippy tbh, but stayed a few years ago at Frejus, I think at Camping Esterel which was very nice:)

I would second the driving recommendation. We are in the midlands and with an early start expect to get to Dijon or Orleans (depending on route) for an overnight stop then on to wherever. If you do plan to drive with overnight stops on the way then do book them in advance. So often we have seen tired, sad looking families arriving at the usual overnighters only to be turned away because the hotels are full.

Make the drive part of the holiday. We really enjoy it.

I would also second the driving recommendation.

I just booked Norfolklines for beginning August (high season) for 3 adults, 3 children for £118.00 with discount code TEF12.

We have never been turned away from an overnighter, but have always gone last two weeks of August. Have to go first two this year. Have bought Le Guide Officiel Camping Caravaning which is supposed to have all French campsites.

We usually start looking for an ovenighter at about 4pm, just in case.

Whatever you decide to do, OP, hope you have a great time.

We looked into Euro camp last year - v v v expensive. Would loke more into an independant site if I were you.

I booked the tunnel £69 each way July/August, and paid with Tesco vouchers.
