I am sorry if this has been done but I couldn?t see a thread like this, there is so many!

I am thinking of going away for a week or best part of in beg of June and planning on climbing (train maybe) up Snowdon so looking somewhere near by to stay. Will have a car though so doesn?t have to be right on the hill side!

I will be taking my 6 year old and 1.5 year old so if you have any suggestions for days out while we are out there that would be great.

The campsite doesn?t need to be amazing, but safe for kids and relatively clean and anything like animal farm on site or playground or swimming pool would be great extra.

Thank you!

I can't really help with the campsite, but the railway is very expensive!

It is a lovely part of the world though!

Oh no! I see they are. But to be honest my son has been dying to go so it will have to do. I suppose one year old won't have to pay? I am trying to not spend too much money so that is why we are camping (first time with 2 kids).

Beddgelert?

Koumak · 21/02/2011 22:13

Thanks Slubber, I just looked on the site. There is a play area and a shop near by which is brilliant. But I would like a little bit more of rain days options if possible. Like the swimming pool or indoor centre or some attractions near by? Where are all the locals? Grin

There is a shop on site and you can order pizzas cooked for tea and fresh bread. A train stops at the campsite too. We were there for 4 days last summer. It didnt stop raining the entire time but Ds (6) had a lovely time playing.

Beddgelert is fab, we stayed there last year and are planning on going again at Easter. We also had lots of rain, but the DC still spent most of the time in the park, just wrapped up in waterproofs and wellies!

For a pool in that area of the world you'd need to venture to (whispers) the Haven site at Greenacres or Hafan y Mor at Pwhelli.

We've stayed at Eisteddfa near Criccieth a few times and is a great location. Close to the coast road to get all around the Lleyn and there are lots of places to go when it rains and believe me it doesn't half rain at times.....Smile

Go to teh Greenwood Centre near Caernarfon. It's ace.

We stayed at beedgeleert last year, I wouldn't say it's for littlies: in the rain we had the place flooded, and our autistic kids disappeared out a back door in the toilet block and ended up in the river which is unfenced.

As adults in the summer- yes. But never again with the boys.

Railway- excellent but buy tickets on day as on a rainy day (as when we went....) you cannot see further than your face LOL. Nice pictures of the view in cafe at top though Wink

One of the best things about Beddgelert was the train station on site but next time we will stay at Dolgellau or similar.

That is a great feedback. Thank you very much. I will look into all of these.
