Opinions on Indigo Campsites: Noirmoutier, Le Lidon and Oleron

Am thinking of taking a couple of camping trips in France this year, the first would be over Easter and the second in summer. I have the Camping Indigo brochure and these three sites all seem to tick the boxes. Has anyone experience of any of them? Can you recommend?

Many thanks.

We went to Oleron in Summer and the location is lovely. I would recommend the area in a heartbeat. The staff were friendly and the pool and cafe area were always spotless.
I had an issue with the loos, my kids were constantly getting locked in the cubicles but it wasn't really a major issue.
If you are going in high season they really pack you in. We went at the end of august so first few days were busy, the last week or so was better for me when there weren't so many people. I could imagine in High season the pool could be under strain.

We went to Noirmoutier and thought it was great, but it isn't really a sandy beach, gritty sand and then mud. We stayed in one of their tents which was really good and well located right on the beach. The loos and showers were clean and large. the pitches for your own tent were further from the central stuff like the play area. No pool would be my only comment, but the sea was pretty warm.

We had a great stay but might try Oleron if we go with Indigo again.

We stayed at Oleron last summer. It was probably the busiest week of the year, a bit too crowded really, and the pitches were gritty more than grassy, but I imagine if you go a bit out of season it would be lovely. We liked the surrounding forest and cycle routes, and the big sandy beaches you could cycle to. If we went back it would be for the location really.

My children also got locked in the loos a few times.

I'm going to try Noirmoutier at Easter as Oleron isn't open then and maybe I'll try Oleron in July, we generally go in the first two weeks of July so hopefully won't be too busy.

I'm surprised what you say about being crowded as I get the impression from their brochure of wide open spaces and space between pitches, it's what attracted me to them.

Definitely not wide open spaces, the Oleron site is cramped. Pleasant in other ways but cramped without much open space. And the pools, though nice, were little. Really, most municipal sites in France will probably have better grass and open spaces.
