I have just put down the deposit for a 10 day stay at Domaine de Drancourt in may.

Half excited, half WTF have I done? Neither of us speak any French.

DS1 will be almost 5 and DS2 will have just turned 1.

Right, what do I need to know, what do I need to bring? Need to start my list now!

tea towel and wash cloth and washing up liquid. Possibly loo roll (but our caravan had loads of that in the end)

Have a lovely time and remember most things can be bought in the shop on site and the French are lovely (except imo in Calais). Have a lovely time.

Will be staying in a tent, am I bonkers?

We camped last year with Eurocamp in Brittany with our 4 and 2 year olds and it was a fantastic holiday. We stayed in a tent and it was great fun. The children absolutely loved it. We've booked again for this year, different site but in a tent again. Can't wait.
We brought scooters with us, the children loved whizzing around on them to the shop, toilets, play area etc.

It's a very easy, relaxing holiday to do with children. I can't imagine how people cope staying in a hotel!

We stayed at Chataeu Drancourt last year, at Easter.
Don't worry re French, the Keycamp staff were English and extremely friendly and helpful.
We were in a mobile home, but the facilities for campers looked excellent - good shower blocks, laundry etc.

There were several small play areas dotted around the site, plus a huge field for games, and lots of kids cycling and scootering around the site. Also tiny ponies tethered on the lawn to pat.

There is a big supermarket at the roundabout by the turn off to the site, Carrefour down in St Valery, and a limited, rather expensive shop on site.

The nearest market town - 4k away, St Valery, is lovely, stroll along the estuary wall at dusk, explore the little streets, and definitley check the market. Your children will enjoy the Chemin de Feu (steam train) which goes all round th bay to Le Crotoys on the other side. Explore the nearby seaside resorts and dune areas, Le Crotoys is a good 'bucket and spade' place.

I would guess the pool area gets v busy.

There is a good tourist information centre in the centre of St Valery with details of lots of days out etc.

Take loads of money - the Euro is expensive! But the supermarket has good deals on many foods - packs of 1E ready prepared salads etc.

Thanks

Have been to France before, but not with kids. Going to start buying a few bits now in advance to avoid last minute panic.

Do not panic.....you will all have a fab time.

The first time we went the girls were only 2 years old.

You can get what you forget to take at any of the supermarkets.

Go on to UKcampsite, they have a great list of what to take, just print it off and away you go..

Best holiday for kids imo, freedom for them and relaxation for you

Don't forget the cheap wine Wineand lovely food that just tastes so much better when camping....aaahhhh bliss, i miss it as can't go this year but have already started research for next
