Anyone know about Camping Cheques?

So we just got back from 2 weeks in Burgundy with our own tent - had a lovely time, although DH found the lack of soundproofing an issue when DD (3) decided screaming was a good idea...

Chatting to some of the others, we heard a couple of people mention Camping Cheques, but only found out towards the end of our stay that those using them were paying a flat E15 rate rather than the E25ish we were. It would have saved us about £100 if we'd payed that way.

Has any one used them? Any disadvantages, other than not all sites taking them? Thanks :)

Lots of the lovely people on ukcamping swear by them for getting a really good deal - it might be worth having a look there. We can't use them as we have to travel in high season and they aren't valid then.

hth?

my dad uses them in france - they are cheaper - you can't alway use them though at different tiems of the year or certian campsites - so check before you go

they are good though

Have a look on the camping cheque website. We actually got a really good ferry deal off their site, over £100 cheaper than elsewhere and 3 camping cheques thrown in as well. We used 2 at the end of August to go to Eurodisney.
The cheques are used mainly in low season, different sites have differet dates, you can look online or get the directory. The cheques entitle you to a pitch, 2 adults, a car and electricity. You have to pay local tax and for any other people. It cost us a cheque plus 8 euros (2 kids) per night at the site near Eurodisney.

We used them in croix de vieux pont in may and for the last 10 days or so of our summer hols (last week august). Basically you pay E13 for a 2 adult pitch and pay the extras for any kids you have. You can save quite a bit of money. Check on the camping cheques website for
sites that accept them and their
dates generally it's out of the
high season.
You can get the cheques a few ways. One way is the paper cheques which I think is 1 per night you hand over to the site. The other 2 ways are like preloaded credit cards a gold card and a silver card.
You have to pay an admin to purchase them and there is a time delay waiting for them to come back. The plastic cards are good as once you have them you just buy additional cheques on line. I think you get extra freebies with the gold card but I think there is some kind of a fee. Look on the camping cheque site for more info.

We use them in Europe and find they save us loads!
The paper cheques have to be used within a certain time. We ended up using the leftovers up at a lovely park in the lake district before they went out of date.
Don't think the cards have a use by date.
