Have just returned from a short trip with my family (Me, DH, DD1 4 , and DD2, 4 months). The site has a policy of charging a set rate for all additional persons, regardless of age. I know the site can charge what they want, but am I alone in thinking this was a bit unfair? I have previously been charged for DD1, but never the baby. Have I just been lucky so far?

no I think most don't charge for very small people.
But given the noise they make at night...perhaps they should charge double?
(I will hopefully be taking dc3 away next year (due end October) and am already feeling guilty in anticipation).

DD2 has been sleeping 12 plus hours overnight since 7 weeks. I would not camp if still doing night feeds Grin Too cold.

Hiya I read about this on UKCS and I think they should have used their discretion on this one, although - as you say they can do whatever they want.

I would have been inclined not to mention the baby when booking. Then you could have given them that 'are you mad!' look when they tackled you for extra payment on site.

Pitchperfect - I so agree, but my husband is mega honest with this kind of thing, and likes to deal with the bookings himself. UKCS is fab - spend more time on there than here now - this camping is so addictive!

I suppose the best way to look at it is the overall cost of the site. I'm happy to pay £15 to £17 for a night on a site. If there is extra charges and it brings the overall cost up - especially if it's over £20 I'll go elsewhere.

That's a bit tight. It's not like the baby will be using the facilities or having hot showers or kicking divots out of the grass. I'd just have smuggled him/her in up your jumper!

we went to Holme open farm in Sedbergh which was brilliant but they did insist on charging for the baby which will put me off returning
