I've heard good things about that place recently but haven't made it there to have a look. I'll have a look online.

How easy is it to put up a soulpad?

MisSalLaneous · 07/09/2010 20:25

You HAVE to try it out soon! Have a picnic in the rain if needs be! Grin I'm dying to hear what your verdict is. My favourite favourite is still the first morning I woke up in ours - space!

Ronaldinhio · 07/09/2010 22:48

MisSalLaneous · 07/09/2010 22:50

hahahahaha. Camping shops branching out these days...

SixtyFootDoll · 07/09/2010 22:56

Hiya Sancty!
Hope you have better luck with the new tent!

HamsterPoo · 07/09/2010 23:01

Oh dear, my mind keeps translating vango as an alternative version of fanjo

coppertop · 07/09/2010 23:03

Glad I'm not the only one who thought this was a Health thread.

MrsMellowdrummer · 08/09/2010 19:20

Oooh, lovely!

We have the 4m Soulpad, and I have to say I don't think it's really all that Glampy... beautiful, yes, but also very very practical. Quick and easy to put up, roomy and spacious without a massive footprint, warm at the right times, cool at the right times, bit heavy to lug around maybe, but not soooo bad. There never was a more perfect tent in my humble opinion! Smile

MisSalLaneous · 08/09/2010 19:25

MrsMellow, I agree with you - you could make it fabulously glamp if you so wish, but it's also brilliant for the in-the-woods moments.

It does however spoil you for other tents - we used our old Vango Orchy the other weekend, and we both kept complaining how much schlepp it was to take down and pack away vs the bell. Except for one-nighters when I might take Quechua pop-op if sleeping only, I don't think I'd camp with anything else in the near future.

MrsMellowdrummer · 08/09/2010 19:43

Nor me, MisSalLaneous.

[...and ours is really quite glampy, but I thought I'd keep quiet about that for the moment!]

MisSalLaneous · 08/09/2010 20:29

I bought bunting the other day (dh not impressed, but I'm using ds as excuse!) and has fairy lights, but inside it's clean and non-frilly, I love the space.

mybabywakesupsinging · 08/09/2010 22:13

what was wrong with the vango?
(have orchy which has so far been v good).

MisSalLaneous · 08/09/2010 22:31

Ah no, nothing wrong with it at all - it's just that the bell tent is so quick and easy to pitch in comparison. Because the Orchy is easy anyway (it was our first tent before the bell, but we only used it once until I started itching for my bell ), we wanted to try it again to see which one best for weekends.

SanctiMoanyArse · 09/09/2010 15:48

The Vango had huge issues- as do soem others according to the review sites, but all of them Monte 900's: other Vango tents are fine I am sure. DH just thinks the weight of acres of fabric is too high for the costtruction. On ours it leaked upwards and downwards: you coulda ctually see daylight through one seam, it was replaced and the replacement was worse so we gave up.

We actually had mildew on the unworn clothes from our last trip becuase the tent inside got so damned damp!

Luce- just couldn;pt find any other tent to suit; either ds1 and ds3 have to have beds on their own, which menas a 4 bed, or we all have to be in together. In fairness as well DH was sick to the back teeth of the huge tents taking so long to pitch, whereas in my guiding days I could pitch abell tent in minutes and ds2 can at Cubs now.

As for fanjo those who see my facebook will know I just hiored someone in to trim by bush as well, maybe it's all cosmically related? Wink

Ah shit sorry, I realise you asked about Peachy's Vango. Blush x 100

mybabywakesupsinging · 09/09/2010 23:01

Ah, so hopefully particular to the Monte? it rained a fair bit this summer (thankfully mainly at night) and no water in so far.
Enjoy your bell tent - am impressed your ds2 puts them up at cubs. I remember getting impressive blisters from putting up half a dozen bell tents ready for Cub camp (wooden pegs, wooden mallet, rock-hard ground)...

and just googled your new tent - looks lovely! and also very practical...if it's anything like the ones the Cubs/Guides had will last forever, too.

MollieO · 09/09/2010 23:52

Peachy have you got [whispers] bunting?
