Thats it. I want to book a car and caravan for next summer and want to know when the prices are lowest? Do I go direct to a ferry company (eg P&O) or through a ferry service eg Ferrysavers?
Advice please! Thanks x

It's still a bit early to get the best prices - after Christmas should be fine - unless you want to use horrifically expensive Brittany ferries in which there is no competition so you can book whenever you like.
Norfolk line always used to be the cheapest Dover-Dunkerque - or save your tesco vouchers and use the fantastic tunnel?

and remember to clear your cookies when you've got the prices as some companies record the number of price requests as an increase in demand and put the prices up!
hth?

Ooh will check out Norfolkline and avoid Brittany ferries ta.
I knew that prices creep up when there is more demand but didn't realise clearing cookies stops it

Tis ded easy to delete your cookies - if you use IE. It is Tools - Internet options - General- Browsing history - click on delete and it brings up your options - keep the passwords one intact otherwise you'll have to log in again on MN Grin

Good Luck! Smile

I always travel with Norfolkline Dover-Dunkirk and would thoroughly recommend it! They are really good for children too with an onboard play area. Lots of onboard food choices. We saved over £100 on P&O and the tunnel last time we travelled so you should always give them a go to see what prices they are offering.

Thought it might be useful to add the website for you....

Buy day (or 2 or 3 day) return tickets - on each side from travel agent. Do not pay with debit or cc's (they will surcharge you), so pay cash. Don't buy from travel agents near the port, they're wise to this and will probably manage to trick you into revealing your true intentions. You'll often find you can travel for £20-30 each way.

Buy before the 31st March to get the cheaper rate. I found dealing with Norfolkline direct was cheaper and easier than using a 'comparison' website.

go late at night or early morning - you can camp in a caravan at dunkirk - no cost and allowed - so if you get late night ferry just park up and sleep in van when you get their when you get the other side

you have to drive back around into the departures area.

Then when you are refreshed you can leave and drive whereever
