We've camped every summer for years but I'm now really starting to feel the cold [old gimmer emoticon]

as is DD3 who is 2. We camped last night and she was freezing in the morning. I was freezing all night Sad

I do everything I can to preserve body warmth - changing into pj's etc early evening, wearning loads of warm clothes, hot water bottle in bed, wear a hat and socks in bed etc. Last night I was wearing 4 layers.

I think the problem may be my attachment to my lovely (13 tog) duvet. I'm really not a sleeping bag person. But maybe I just need to buy a decent sleeping bag?

We sleep on airbeds. Has anyone found an alternative that's warmer?

All tips gratefully received - I still haven't warmed up from last night Grin

We want to camp in October this year but I'm really not sure I can face the cold nights.

We have a small estate car and are first timers in a borrowed gelert cyclone 6 with 2 kids and dog. We have no sewn in groundsheet and I am the coldest person in the world! Had no idea i needed to put something under the airbeds. Not sure we have enough room in car for our week away but if I need to leave the shoes behind, then blankets are going to come with us. Any advice for space saving warmth would be welcomed!!

I am a firm believer in the foil backed picnic rug beneath your mat/ airbed. I am as nesh as they come so I also have a huge outwell wide sleeping bag.

We have this raised camping bed (which I notice is half price at the moment!!) topped with this mattress topper. Perfect night's sleep.

Sorry, that was a rubbish suggestion for space saving! Was answering original thread which I have just noticed is over a year old. And in the process I have irked myself by discovering my aerobed is now half price!

not one sleeping bag: two.

Gloves, hat and socks and whatever else you wear in bed

husband who thanks to a health appetite and unhealthy blood pressure tends to be hotter than the fires of hell: a plus.

Oh Eggy - I was to say exactly the same! Two sleeping bags one inside the other.

Don't get cold.
Start putting on layers before you get ccccold....
Hats if necessary plus hot water bottles.
Sleeping jumpers.
Tracksuits.

It is horrid to feel cold!

Make sure you have a couple of fleecy blankets between the airbed/mattress/whatever you're sleeping on and your sleeping bag, it makes such a difference with how warm you stay. Also good thick socks and a hat are brilliant at keeping you warm too.
