A Quechua base seconds and 4.2 family tent. Have just put them up and down in the garden and are really pleased with them.

Normally I go camping grudgingly but enjoy it when we are there. I almost think I'm looking forward to this trip.

One of my bug bears was the pitching / taking down the tent so, hopefully it should now be alot quicker!

Just wanted to share....

I'm sitting in my 4.2 in my garden right now! Grin Went and bought it today. Took me about 20 minutes to put up first go so I'm very pleased with it. Dreading trying to take it down though.

And typically - it's pouring with rain! Grin

Its raining here. The Children have asked to get it out again. We may do in the sitting room! Something to do.

what is the bag like it comes in?

LadyBiscuit · 17/08/2010 10:21

I'm going this weekend with mine. Rain is forecast so I'm excited that I will be able to get the tent up quick. Am less looking forward to helping my friend put up her traditional one :(

Cappster · 17/08/2010 12:03

Have seen these in a 'ooh' way. Is the groundsheet sewn in though?

LadyBiscuit · 17/08/2010 12:11

No it's not sewn it but it's like a box (ie has sides on it) and velcros onto the tent so I am hoping the rain will stay out. And the bedrooms have tent fabric floors above the groundsheet.

thisismyname - they fold into a very big circle which has shoulder straps on it. I carried mine back from the store in South London on the tube to NW London fairly easily

We went to Decathalon yesterday in anticipation of our trip to France soon. We've bottled it and are eurocamping this time. I LOVED the tent you bought (and tried laying out in one of the 'rooms' much to DH embarrassment :) , but he poo'hooed the claims of being easy to assemble so I'm going to print this thread and show him!

Was really pleased with all the beach gear we managed to get though. I haven't been able to find reasonable sunsuits anywhere and they have them in a huge range of colours for only a fiver each.

SacharissaCripslock · 17/08/2010 12:53

It rained ALL night here and it was proper rain, not your drizzle nonsense, and no rain got in at all! Grin

I'm waiting for it to dry out so I can have a go at packing it away. YouTube had some videos and made it look easy. Wish me luck! Wink

LadyBiscuit · 17/08/2010 12:57

Oh that's good to hear. Couldn't bear it if it turned out to be leaky.

Sherah - I can put mine up and take it down on my own and I'm 5'4". It's easier with two people but not impossible with one (possibly if it's windy might be but then taking any kind of tent down on a gusty day is a bit of a mare)

MrsGokWan · 17/08/2010 13:11

We've just come back from camping for 2 weeks in Scotland and we saw about half a dozen of these over the weeks, from the little one man pop ups to the base with bedrooms and they look really nice.

Wiggletastic · 17/08/2010 18:01

We have the 4.2 and I can put it up myself in 5 mins and take down in about the same time. DH was sceptical but had to admit it really was super simple. We love it. Grin

I have questions, can you get an add on kind of canopy for cooking under? and.... in the utube vids it shows aa camp bed in each room - what blow up beds can you get in them eg.. a double or 2 singles???

thanks - they look cool.

LadyBiscuit · 17/08/2010 19:37

I have a separate tarp for cooking under. I reckon you could attach it to one end of the tent if you wanted. The bedrooms aren't enormous but big enough for a double blow up mattress with about a foot or so around it. So presume singles would be slightly cosy :o

Wiggletastic · 17/08/2010 21:06

We have two fat airics in one side for us and the travel cot in the other side for DD. We also have a seperate tarp for cooking under which IIRC was suggested to me on another thread by LadyBiscuit - thanks!
