... and I need someone to Have A Word with me.

I've got all my favourite things, once I'm there, I've always loved it, yet I just can't get myself excited about it anymore. What happened?? And more importantly, how do I get over this feeling of dread I get when I think of it??

We're going to Wowo weekend after next, so if you could change my attitude as soon as possible, it would be greatly appreciated! Grin

lol. The tourism business hasn't taken off too well in N wales. They need to get that Mary woman in. For the whole country.

Slubberdegullion · 14/08/2010 19:42

pointy Grin har yes normality restored.

Judy I think it was the price of the Hull- Zebrugge ferry I checked on last night. £650 return Shock. We have done 3 full weeks camping now in Britain for about £270 (campsite prices).

I don't care anymore. I want SUN on my body. SUN fgs and food made of vegetables.

pointydog · 14/08/2010 19:44

oh don't go hull-zeebrugge. It costs an arm and a leg.

pointydog · 14/08/2010 19:45

And the food in france, the fruit and veg at the markets. Big-time Bliss.

Slubberdegullion · 14/08/2010 19:49

I know but driving to the south coast is such a giant pita. Hey ho I've got a year to plan and research for next year.

shurrup about bloody lovely french markets

pointydog · 14/08/2010 19:51

ARe your dc quite young? We found the drive surprisingly fine but the dds were 13 and 11.

Slubberdegullion · 14/08/2010 19:53

5 and 6 now. 2 dvds in the car and then the moaning and whingeing starts.

pointydog · 14/08/2010 19:54

ah. Not good.

Slubberdegullion · 14/08/2010 19:58

yes, hence return trips to N wales that fit nicely into the 2 pixar/disney dvds radius.
That and we do love it when the sun comes out.

May = factor 50 on the dds
August = vests plus reproofed rain coats.

moondog · 15/08/2010 06:50

at Pwllheli being like Soho.

moondog · 15/08/2010 10:06

I wonder if any of you lot have considered house swaps? Costs even less than camping and contrary to popular belief you don't have to live in a showhome.

I did one a few years ago (with an MNer) and it was great.

roundthebend4 · 15/08/2010 10:43

i try pick ampsites with at least indoor pools so we have an option if weather bad or having acheap day on site , but then am also balancing teens and younge rones

roundthebend4 · 15/08/2010 10:44

but next year i should have passed my test and thought being able chuck all in car is fantstic or even day out without checking buses etc

MisSalLaneous · 15/08/2010 14:20

Moondog, whilst the idea of house swaps makes complete sense, I'll be paranoid about leaving everything here perfectly before we go away, which means I'll be forced to do that deep clean I conveniently put off... Actually, I should probably do it just to force myself to finish all those almost-done-jobs (e.g. bathroom with only undercoat for the last couple of weeks - I got a bit bored with my diy project!) I'll do a SE Asia house swop with you though, even if it means I have to pick a colour eventually Grin

Hmm, all this talk of pastures greener warmer - tell me then all you ferry-crossers, except for going all the way south, is there anything good within 4 or so hours of Calais? I think we might try the longer trip south for a longer holiday next year, but I wonder if anything nearer would work for a long weekend break.

But then you would win three ways-tidy house, all those niggly jobs sorted, and a lovely holiday for nothing.

What's not to like?
There are HE sites for everyone-singles, gay people, teachers, pet owners, religious people, families and so on.
Check out this site for starters. It's got a search engine so you can put in where you are and see who has aksed for that location.

moondog · 15/08/2010 18:08

I've just found about 80 ++ families worldwide who want to come to my neck of woods in UK.

MisSalLaneous · 15/08/2010 18:23

Thanks moondog. I'm not sure yet, but think I might join the free option now anyway just to look around a bit. Ha, we'd probably be able to go anywhere for a swop during the Olympics! Grin

moondog · 15/08/2010 18:35

Exactly!
Why pay to do what you can do free and in a way that gives you a connection to a place? I'd rather a comfy home with toys for the kids, a fridge, a kitchen to cook in (not everyone's No. 1 priority I know but important for me), the lowdown on the sene from the owners and the sheer adventure of it to any impersonal hotel room.

roundthebend4 · 15/08/2010 19:04

I might look at houseswapping now have big enough place to swap
mind anyone swapping with me really needs be a fan of trains and planes

what do you do about insurance

moondog · 15/08/2010 19:08

You sort that out yourself. It's not really an issue-companies glad to know somewhere is occupied generally.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 15/08/2010 19:55

What is WoWo? Is it somethng to do with World of Warcraft?

Grin
roundthebend4 · 15/08/2010 20:13

am going give it some thought but feeling closeness of the train line will put people of

MisSalLaneous · 15/08/2010 20:13

I really hope not, pfft! Shock It's this place. We're camping on the Tipi trail, so I'm hoping it will be nice.
