Can someone help me find my perfect (or close to perfect) tent?

I currently have a 3 man dome tent and a 6 man tunnel tent. Both were bought for festivals but my needs have changed!

I only need to fit ds (almost 8yrs) and I in it for the most part but I do like lots of space because I'm not a tidy/organised camper.

This weekend ds and I stayed in the tunnel tent with some friends. The first night we were in the 2 man room which was a bit cramped because we had all our things in with us. The second night we slept in the 4 man room and it was fab so I'm thinking I'd like a 4 man or maybe a 5 man then have the option to have an extra body or 2 if we wanted.

I'd also like to be able to stand up in the sleeping area and living area (min 170cm).

I read recently about a MN camper who had the Quechua pop up base tents but by the time I'd decided they might be good the reasonably priced ones at decathalon had sold out. If they're really going to be worth the ebay prices then I might think seriously about getting them but at the moment I'm looking at nearly £200 and I'm not sure I can justify it.

My final demand Grin is that it needs to be fairly easy to put up and take down. Whilst ds can hold the odd pole or 2 when setting up, he was nowhere to be seen when it was time to pack up this morning and I did struggle a bit squeezing it all back into the bag.

If anyone knows what my dream tent is please let me know!!! Grin

How about the Khyam Winnipeg.

We have this as our smaller tent and it is FAB, as confirmed by reviews here

Can stand up in living area and at one end of bedrooms. Both bedrooms take a full size double air bed and it is 5000HH, and I can put ours up single handed.

My needs are similar to yours mogs and I chose the Outwell Oakland. It has a rigid pole midway along which ds can hang onto while I manage the rest. It's a good size for us, roomy enough not to feel claustrophobic but small enough to readily find a pitch. Don't know how soon you need one but I'm giving it a good work out next week and happy to report back! if you can hang on til later in a (very poor) summer you may get a real bargain, too.

We bought a Mojave 5 from Go Outdoors last week for £140, it's easy to put up (we had a trial run in the garden) and the reviews are very good here

You can stand in the bedrooms/living area too.

It's a shame decathalon have sold out because the 4.1 is excellent, I have tested mine this weekend and it performed really well in a mixture of weather.
Can you manage for what is left of this season and then dive in to decathlon as soon as they have stock next year? Just a thought.

Thanks for the replies! I'm not in a rush to get a new one and don't have any more camping trips planned yet. I'm hoping to have a car next year and will definitely have more camping trips then.

I'm like a parrot about this. I've got one of these - and it's fab. Am about to go away for a week in it, it's done two weekend trips (including heavy rain showers) and it was warm and dry. A snip at £139 too. For extra room, add the canopy. It gives you miles more living space.
