Camping with a medium estate boot

I have changed my car since camping last from a massive people carrier to a medium estate car. I was going to get a trailer but have decided not too and roof box too expensive.

It will be ds 14 and dd 6 and me with a very big 9 person tent and a coleman cool box.

Is it doable to pack the car up with what we need? We will also have electricity for the first time so have the cable to take.

Any tips on what to take and what not to take in medium car??

I have got all my camping gear in a Toyota Yaris! So yes it is possible

12 man tent, electricity and even managed a dolls pram!

DH didn't come so I could stuff the front seat and footwell too. DD is 2 so I put cool box under her feet.

Put the 14 year old in the front, fold down 1/2 the back seat and cram cram cram!!

Put all of your essentials in first - bedding, cooking stuff then the non-essentials if there is room - bunting, fairy lights etc! Can you buy food there? Will save a bag or two.

Enjoy!

We have an astra (twin top) so slightly bigger boot and we got all our stuff in ours inc pillows and a big plastic suitcase because we were hollidaying elsewhere as well. Its doeable - only thing we couldnt get in was the 2 extra fold chairs for dc but they were happy to sit on a picnic blanket anyway.

Yes, I will buy food and ice there so will fill up cooler with cooking utensils. Don't think half the back seat folds back though but already told children we will use those supermarket reusable bags to put our clothes in - one each.

WHere can I buy those microfibre towels that dry quickly?

Millers or Blacks or other camping shop or online if you have time to wait for the post for the towels. We've got the massive ones to cover our fat bellies, but can confirm they work a treat.

Enjoy your camping - btw, when me and my bro were kids, we'd sometimes be put in the car and the last few bits packed around us. Soft stuff, obv, like pillows on knees and then we'd go from Cheshire to the S of France over 2 days. The last time, I was 12, bro was 14. We didn't think much of the journey but loved the holiday!!

Thanks - yes, that sounds like what we'll be doing. I havent ventured to France yet but intend to next year.
