Standon Calling festival - is anyone going, or have any words of wisdom on festivals with toddlers?

We're taking DS (19mo) to his first festival in a couple of weeks, Standon Calling in Hertfordshire, I can't wait.

It's a lovely little festival, I'm hoping it'll be pretty toddler friendly. It'll be a first for me too. Gone are the days of staying up for days on end, oh yes.
I guess I'll be going to bed pretty much when DS does! Oh how times change! At least I'll remember all of it this time

I'm basically going for the approach that it's DS's festival. We'll do things he enjoys, and we'll all be happy as a result (I hope!)

Just wondering if anyone else its going? Or if you have any words of wisdom for me on enjoying festivals with toddlers?

Luckily, he does enjoy listening to music! He does toddler dancing to tunes he likes which is really very cute indeed

We've got him these ear defenders and some buddy reins. Got two weeks to train him that they are in fact brilliant things that he really wants to wear.

Hello!
I actually run the childrens area at Standon Calling called The Little Den. We'll be open every day with a mini line up for the children and a craft area. Come and find us.
Make sure you bring the ear defenders and some for you at night time!
Absolutely right in letting him take the lead with what he wants to do. On taking my 8month old last year, I found that as soon as I put on her ear defenders in the evening, she went to sleep, leaving us to amble around the festival taking in all the bands and fun with a blissfully sleeping baby in the pram!
Couple of things.. make sure you have a pram with big wheels to go over all the lumps and bumps in the field.. lots of blankets as it can get chilly at night..perhaps a grobag with the slots in for the harness so you can easily put a sleeping baby from pram to bed.. and bring lots of childrens snacks (rice cakes, ella's kitchen, breadsticks) as they won't be for sale on site and I feel are pretty essential in keeping small people happy throughout the day!
I'm sure you'll all have a great time!

Hiya beegirl, what a nice surprise

Ear defenders, check! Thanks for the other tips, useful stuff Think I might be able to borrow a 3 wheeler, maybe, I hope.

Nice image of the sleeping baby. Not holding out much hope for DS though. It used to work like that when he was younger, but he's such a night owl, I can't see him sleeping in the boggy with so much exciting stuff going on. But here's hoping, you never know!

I'm really excited, can't wait!

2 days to go, can't wait

I'm amazed that DS has accepted the buddy reins without a fuss. He's pretty strong willed and loves running about everywhere so I thought it'd be a struggle, but it wasn't. We got him this one and let him just cuddle the dog and treat it as a toy for a day before we tried to put it on. And it's worked, much to my surprise.

I did think of getting him the cow one - dogs and cows are favorite things. We saw another child wearing the cow one on the beach the other day. Cue DS following him around going moo! Very sweet.
